Things to do at Bedok Reservoir Park
Our Bedok Singapore Travel Series started at Bedok Reservoir Park. Here, we enjoyed a leisurely morning walk around the reservoir. Surprisingly, there were also many people having their morning exercise. If you’ve hadn’t known, there’s a piece of Berlin Wall here as well. We noticed that there was an outdoors activities centre called Forest Adventure – a treetop obstacle course. There are ziplines and obstacle courses above the tree top which seemed quite fun. Thereafter, we also came across the floating boardwalk. A perfect venue to do some morning exercises with views over the water expanse. The entire walk took about an hour (or 4km) which really worked up an appetite. This led us to our second location…
What to Eat at Fengshan Market & Food Centre
Fengshan Market & Food Centre is famous for minced meat noodles and BBQ seafood (stingrays!). However, as it was morning, the famous stalls are not opened yet. Hence, we decided to check out stalls with queues. This morning, Teo Hong Fishball Minced Meat Noodles did have a queue and we joined in. Hearing the stall owner say the order of a patron before she spoke, was a good indication. In the end, we were satisfied by the bowl of bak chor mee kia (minced meat thin noodles) with Q(springy) noodles and fishball. The meat balls though were just ok – can probably give it a miss. Wan Tzai Porridge (湾仔粥) was the other stall we visited. Choke full of meat and milky goodness from the porridge. Though, we didn’t think the egg gelled well with the Boat Congee. Nonetheless, a great bowl of porridge at that. During this visit, we also noticed the carrot cake stall (that appeared on TV) as well as a mysterious economic noodle stall that didnt have a signboard indicating what it sold – though the queue was one of the longest. We wonder why… 🤔
What we had at Lek Lim Nonya Cake Confectionery and Katong Sin Chew Cake Shop
During this trip, one of our objectives were to get cakes and confectionaries! This time, Lek Lim Nonya Cake Confectionery fell on our radar because of our cravings for nonya delights such as kotoh ubi, ambon cake and kueh salat. We also headed to Katong Sin Chew Cake Shop for chocolate rum balls. A little expensive ($2 each) but had a good texture.
Heartbeat @ Bedok and Bedok Mall
We rounded our trip of Bedok at Heartbeat @ Bedok. We checked out the swimming pool at the top and found it to be beautifully developed, with views of the surroundings and the gym overlooking the pool. From there, we headed to Bedok Mall before taking a bus home.
