Stanley Park has got to be one of the biggest attractions in Vancouver. In fact, there are attractions within this attraction! Thanks to the awesome folks at Tourism Vancouver, we got to enjoy the horse carriage ride around Stanley Park which lasted about an hour. During the tour, we were brought to attractions such as the Rose Garden, Girl in Wet Suit, Harry Jerome Statue, Hallelujah Point, Totem Poles, 9 O’Clock Gun, Brockton Point Lighthouse and many more! Commentaries were made throughout the ride and we enjoyed snippets of stories such as why the guy looking after the 9 O’Clock Gun has probably the best job in the world and why the Girl in Wet Suit looks awful lot like the Little Mermaid Statue in Denmark. Go on this enjoyable horse carriage ride and find out more!

Still within Stanley Park (Yes! Stanley Park is HUGE!), the Vancouver Aquarium hosts marine life from the Pacific, British Columbia and even the tropics. There’s a good mix of outdoor and indoor exhibits, complete with feeding sessions and shows. Exhibits are informative as well – something that we look out for at attractions such as zoos and aquariums. Lastly, the 4D attraction was “spine tingling” to say the least! On a side note, close to the Vancouver Aquarium is a painter’s corner where artists paint and sell their work. Check it out while you’re there!

Address: 845 Avison Way, Vancouver, BC V6G 3E2, Canada
Opening Hours: 10am to 5pm

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park features several “exciting” trails such as the Treetop Walk and Cliff Walk. Although its “relatively safe” to cross these trails, we’ve got to say that it’s definitely not for the faint of hearts. For instance, the suspension bridge does have a good swing from side to side as you cross it. The Cliff Walk overlooks the riverbed, 60 metres down. Which was why Kate sat out from this “adventure” while Tom confronted his fear of heights to capture shots and videos (see below) for you!

There is a free shuttle service pick up from Canada Place, Melville Street, Blue Horizon Hotel and Westin Bayshore. However, to take the bus back, you would either have to visit the park or dine at an eatery and show proof of purchase before you can board the bus back to the city.

Opening Hours: 830am to 8pm

Granville Island is a really happening area southwest of downtown Vancouver. Here, you can find a public market that sells a large variety of merchandise (ranging from jewelry and fashion to homemade jams and produce) as well as several well-known restaurants. To get there, you’ll need to either walk across the Granville Bridge (like we did), drive (of course!) or take the False Creek Ferry which acts like a sort of river taxi along False Creek. Enjoy the amazing views as you cross the bridge and remember to hold on to the railings as it can get rather windy at times!

Address: 1669 Johnston Street V6H 3R9, Canada
Opening Hours: 9am to 7pm (or later for some restaurants)

5. West End and English Bay Beach

Still on happening places in Vancouver, West End is definitely not to be missed. Walking along the streets filled with hip restaurants and shops, you can literally feel the vibe of the area! If you follow along Denman Street, you’ll also be able to visit English Bay Beach – a popular sun tanning spot for the locals. You’ll also be able to take a shot with Inukshuk, an iconic Canadian landmark which acted as a navigation mark in the past. While we were there, we even caught a swim suit model and her photographer taking some shots on that bright and sunny afternoon!

Vancouver Lookout offers 360 degrees views over Vancouver! On a clear day, you’ll be able to see as far as Mount Baker in Washington (the state not to be confused with the capital). You’ll be able to experience a different side of Vancouver and even enjoy awesome sunsets over the horizon! If you’d like to take the experience up a notch, why not try the revolving restaurant – Top of Vancouver? Enjoy!

Opening Hours: 830am to 1030pm

7. Flyover Canada

Flyover Canada is a virtual flight ride that takes you through Canada’s most spectacular sights such as the Canadian Rockies, Niagara Falls and even the Northern Lights! Although we were skeptical at first, the ride turned out to be so realistic and breath-taking, even though we knew we were facing a screen projection. Downside was that the ride lasted only about 10 minutes…

Just to advise readers briefly, we felt a little unsafe while walking to Vancouver Chinatown. This was because of the many homeless people along the streets there. Although we got to visit the Dr Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden, which was beautiful, we still would not advise walking there. Driving would be much safer. We also took the opportunity to visit Tai Sho Ken Ramen. Enjoyed the dipped ramen there! Yum!

Address: 578 Carrall St, Vancouver, BC V6B 5K2, Canada
Opening Hours: 930am to 7pm (Dr Sun Yat Sen Chinese Garden)

Totally enjoyed the Harbour Cruise that passed through the scenic Burrard Inlet. During the trip, we sailed past attractions such as Canada Place, Stanley Park, Historic Gastown and many others! If you’re up for it, you can also enjoy a sunset dinner cruise as well!
