On day 12 of post-KLOVE Cruise travels in the USA, we travelled from Charleston South Carolina to Charlotte North Carolina. This morning, we woke up for breakfast at 7am and there was sausage along with quiche, slightly different from yesterday’s breakfast at TownePlace Suites Marriott Charleston West Ashley…
Tom also had some dried fruits along with walnuts that went well with the cereals. After the hearty breakfast, we left the hotel at about 8:15am and stopped by QUIKtrip at Highway 102 – pumping up 7.66 gallons of petrol at $22. We also found M&Ms brownies here!
USA Trip 2024 Day 12 – Lunch at Whiskey Warehouse Charlotte
We reached Whiskey Warehouse in Charlotte North Carolina at about 11:30am. Inside, there were leather booth seats and MANY MANY TV screens that allowed you to catch the live sports action, no matter which direction you’re facing. It had a nice homely feel as well, plus, the staff were super friendly!
At Whiskey Warehouse, we ordered the Bourbon Smash ($12) and daily specials of Samuel Adams Seasonal ($4) along with Fish and Chips ($15) and 8 Jumbo Wings with Jack Daniels BBQ and Ranch Sauce ($12). First off, we LOVE the Fish and Chips at Whiskey Warehouse. It was fried to perfection with the crisp on the outside and moist, tender fish on the inside. The batter also had light spices on it as well. As for the Jumbo Wings, we found the wings to be slightly over-fried though the BBQ sauce was superbly enticing.
USA Trip 2024 Day 12 – Chilling Out at Legion Brewery Charlotte
After a great meal at Whiskey Warehouse, we popped over to Legion Brewing, just a couple of streets away. This time, we had the Juicy Mango IPA and the Sessions IPA. Both came up to $14 with taxes, a tad expensive, after experiencing the excellent (and affordable) craft beers in Jacksonville.
USA Trip 2024 Day 12 – Murals in Uptown Charlotte
After the break, we headed to Uptown Charlotte where there are many murals on display. Our favourite has got to be the Back To The Future (located at 7th Street side of Discovery Place) by Alex DeLarge. Certainly brought back loads of memories associated with the movie. We also checked out the other artwork and murals in the area as well…
USA Trip 2024 Day 12 – Checking-In at Hampton Inn & Suites Charlotte Arrowood Road
We checked in at Hampton Inn & Suites Charlotte Arrowood Road at about 3pm and it was beautiful…
At $140SGD per night, the stay at Hampton Inn & Suites Charlotte Arrowood Road comes with free parking and a breakfast buffet which starts at 6am. Not too bad for a stopover this evening. For dinner, we had Bojangles because the radio had been advertising it during our drive and since it was our first time in Charlotte – home of Bojangles, we decided to give it a go. Boy, did we regret it…
First, we have to say that the Bojangles premise was very clean. Like most fast-food restaurants, the layout was simple as well. This time, we ordered the Bojangles 3-piece chicken for $10 and added $2.69 for drinks and 2 sides, which we chose the Mac and Cheese along with Dirty Rice. Although Bojangles was supposed to be home of the “Famous Chicken ‘N Biscuits”, we found EVERYTHING to be SO SALTY! Well, perhaps less the rice, which was surprisingly fragrant. We also enjoyed the Bojangles Legendary Iced Tea – Sweet but really deep in flavours of the tea.
USA Trip 2024 Day 12 – Watching The Chosen Season 4 Premier at Ayrsley Grand Cinemas
To round up the night, we thought about catching a local movie. Afterall, we’ve caught several movies overseas during our travels over the years. However, this time, Kate thought about the possibility of catching The Chosen season 4 premier at the cinemas, as a way to support the series – which we’d otherwise watch for free on the app. Coincidentally, THERE WAS a cinema that was playing the season premier at Ayrsley Grand Cinemas, less than 10 minutes away by car. Perhaps the Lord had arranged for this to happen and we were so thankful to be able to do another “out-of-the-norm” activity this evening!
This time, they showed episodes 1 to 3 over a 3 hours period with an intermission in between. Each ticket was $12 but the seats were large and comfortable, PLUS, they were fully reclinable!

Thank the Lord to have been able to support The Chosen production, all the way in the USA, in a city called Charlotte! Stay tuned as we share more about our time at The Billy Graham Library on day 13 of our travels in USA post-KLOVE cruise!
