2024 KLOVE Cruise USA Travel Itinerary Day 16: Shopping at Orlando Premium Outlets and Resting at Hotel Park Royal Orlando

On day 16 of our travels in USA post-KLOVE Cruise 2024, we slowed things down with some shopping at Orlando Premium Outlets!

This morning, we left Driftwood Inn (Lake City) at about 7:30am. However, as the innkeeper was still not ready with coffee when we were about to leave, we continued on Highway 50 till we reached a Racetrac to refuel (6.5 gallons at $20) and got our freshly ground coffee for $2. One thing we love about Racetrac is that they’re serious about their coffee for drivers…

We arrived at Orlando Premium Outlets at about 1030am in the morning.

READY. TO. SHOP.

We love shopping at the Premium Outlets in USA because the deals are real. Having shopped at outlets during our travels, we found USA discounts to be deeper and they also allow more “stacking” of discounts. This time, we started with Kate Spade where Kate bought a pair of shoes at 70% + 20% off. Kate also taught Tom that this DOES NOT mean 90% off but a further 20% off, after first applying the 70% discount. For instance, if an item cost $100, after 70% discount, it would be $30 and after a further 20%, it would be $24 (instead of $10 if it were 90% off).

We also saw a Carlos (aka Cake Boss) “Bake Shop” machine. Since we had visited Cake Boss in Hoboken but had not tried their cake proper before, we decided to give it a try this time. We chose the carrot cake ($9.5) and it turned out to be VERY good! The cake was actually moist and the cream cheese was not too sweet either. The portion was huge and there were some nice spices within that makes you want to have one mouth after another. Probably the 2nd best carrot cake, after the carrot cake we had in Chicago.

As it was the eve of Chinese New Year, we decided to have some Chinese food after shopping at Orlando Premium Outlets. After some quick search on Google, we found Spicy Girl (辣妹子) in the vicinity and decided to have a try…

This time, we ordered the following for our Lunar New Year Eve’s celebration at Spicy Girl (辣妹子) with:

1. 凉粉 Spicy Cold Jelly ($7.95)
2. 锅包肉 Sweet & Sour Pork ($15.95)
3. Qing Dao Beer ($5)
4. Rice ($2)

Although the liang fen (cold jelly) was not the chewy one that we expected, the sauce was spot on – similar to what we would get in Singapore. The Sweet and Sour Pork was crispy and even though it was soaked in the appetising sauce, it remained crispy, a testament to the skills of the chef here at Spicy Girl Chinese restaurant. Lastly, the rice was sooo goood! Probably cause we have not had rice since the Thai Food we had at Ruby Beach Brewing.

USA Trip 2024 Day 16 – Checking In at Hotel Park Royal Orlando

After checking out Ross and Barnes & Nobles (again), we headed over to Hotel Park Royal Orlando where we paid $120SGD for a stay this evening before returning back to Singapore the next day.

To be sure, Hotel Park Royal Orlando is not anything like the Parkroyal brand that we see in Singapore. At Hotel Park Royal Orlando, it was more like a motel but has since been converted and upgraded to become a hotel – complete with a swimming pool, gym and ice machines. One surprising find for us was that the swimming pool at Hotel Park Royal Orlando is heated! Hence, we had a dip in the evening even though the air was a cool 15 degrees.

In the evening, we headed out to Target nearby and bought some cheese/salami mix with a tomato-based soup for dinner. We also had the Florida Man Double IPA which was absolutely delicious!
