We’re finally going on a Cruise to Nowhere with Genting Dream Cruises’ World Dream! It has been 5 months since our last Cruise To Nowhere aboard Quantum of the Seas and it’s definitely interesting to compare the offerings between the two cruise lines! One of the main difference we noticed at the start of the trip, is that Genting Dream Cruises only requires an Antigen Rapid Test (ART) on the day itself. The timing of the ART is provided once the cruise ticket is issued to you. For us, our ART was scheduled for 12:15pm. Hence, we arrived at about 12pm and were able to head for our ART almost immediately…
To get to the Marina Bay Cruise Centre for your Cruise to Nowhere with Genting World Dream, the easiest (and cheapest) way is to make your way to the Marina South Pier MRT Station. From there, it is a short walk (less than 10 mins) under the covered walkway to Marina Bay Cruise Centre.
Boarding Genting World Dream at Marina Bay Cruise Centre for Cruise to Nowhere
Upon arrival, you’ll be ushered to take a lift up to take the ART in a make-shift area from the parking space. The registration was pretty quick and the swabbers were pretty experienced as well. We arrived at 12pm and by the time we got our results, it was around 1230pm. Remember to keep refreshing your TraceTogether App (as told to us by the staff on site), as it allows you to receive the results about 5 to 10 minutes faster than the SMS notification…
While waiting for the results, we were also given day 1 of Dream Daily – Genting Dream Cruises’ daily programme sheet…
There’s also the Dream SALEaway section that gives a glimpse of the deals available for drinks, dining, spa, VR games and more!
After we received our ART results, we were able to enter the cruise centre proper. Just like the suites passengers on Royal Carribean Cruise, the Palace Suites passengers also have priority for queues to board the ship.
After we entered, the first station is to get our Cruise to Nowhere room cards printed…
One thing we noticed was that our Classic Drinks Package was not printed on the room card itself. This was unlike the room cards for Royal Caribbean Cruise. We thought that without the drinks package being printed on our room cards, we’d probably have to spend another 15 to 30 minutes settling this when we get onboard. However, this worry was unfounded – as you may have found out from our Genting Dream Cruises Classic Beverage Package Review!
After we got our cards, we were led to another seating area to wait for an hour, before we were finally able to start boarding at 2pm. Hence, from the time we arrived at Marina Bay Cruise Centre till the time we were on board, it took about 2.5 hours – inclusive of this 1 hour wait here.
One little tip here for immigration. The automated lanes now use facial scans (instead of thumb prints) to grant access. Remember to remove your mask and look into the camera without moving. This will expedite the whole experience altogether.
At about 2:30pm, we were finally on board Genting World Dream for our Cruise to Nowhere!
Cruise to Nowhere on Genting World Dream – Making ALL the Bookings!
If you have read our post on pre-cruise preparations for Genting World Dream Cruise to Nowhere, you’ll know that the first order of the day, would be to make bookings for swimming and jacuzzi! After quickly dropping off our bags, we headed to Deck 16 (Swimming pool deck) to make our bookings!
As we knew exactly where to head to, we were one of the first few to make bookings for the pool. Unfortunately, we made a huge mistake by booking the swimming pool first, instead of the jacuzzi. We then found out that we were only able to make one booking a day. Originally, we wanted to book the night jacuzzi slots but were unable to do so this time. Hence, we were unable to make our jacuzzi bookings and had to return the next morning at 8am. 😢
After making the booking, you’ll be issued a reservation ticket…
Next, we headed up a flight of stairs to the Sun Deck Bar at Deck 17 (stairs is directly opposite the swimming pool booking counter). There, we had to confirm our drinks package. Hence, we handed over our card to the bartender to check. Within minutes, he confirmed that we were on the drinks package and he proceeded to place “P2” (Package 2 – Classic Beverage Package) yellow sticker on our room card…
Thereafter, we ordered our celebratory welcome drink, 2 sparkling wines (Reymos Moscato – retails at $25 a bottle) which was bubbly and really enticing we must say…
Thereafter, we headed to Dream Dining (Upper) to have lunch. Dream Dining (Upper) is located at deck 8 aft for Asian Cuisine while Dream Dining (Lower) is located at deck 7 aft, for Western Cuisine. We have heard about the good Asian Cuisine (as compared to other cruise lines) on Dream Cruises so we decided to head over for our first meal onboard. According to Dream Daily, lunch would end at 3:30 at dining rooms and 4pm at the Lido (on Day 1), so we quickly hopped over…
After we were seated down, we were pleasantly surprised that there was draft beer available at the dining rooms. Without hesitation, we went for 2 drafts. The asian cuisine was definitely better than most cruise lines’ asian food. The sliced pork and deep fried fish were delicious. Also, you can ask for top-ups for dishes at the dining rooms. We then rounded up our meal with Asahi beers, also included in the Classic Beverage Package.
After lunch, we headed to Deck 15’s Crystal Life Spa to book our gym session. We booked the first slot of the day and were likewise given a reservation ticket which you’d have to bring along for your gym session.
Next, we headed to Deck 18’s Sports Activity Centre to check out if we can make a booking for some of the activities here…
We found out that bookings are only required for table tennis, mini-golf and basketball. However, the top activities – Rope Course and Rock Climbing are on a first-come-first-served basis. As we were not prepared for the Rope Course yet, we decided to play a game of table tennis, before doing the mini-golf…
Unlike other cruise lines, the table tennis bats, table and net was actually quite good. As for the mini-golf, the course itself was not as interesting as that of RCC. Still, it was a putting-good-time. 🤓
Before heading back indoors, we took a shot of the slides with Marina Bay Sands in the background…
After our table tennis and mini-golf session, we headed straight for dinner because dinner at the dining rooms starts at 5pm this day. For dinner, we decided to go for Dining Room (Lower) for the Western Cuisine…
For meals at Dream Dining (Lower), just like Dream Dining (Upper), you can order as much as you like from the menu. This time, we ordered all three mains of Hawaiian Huli Huli Chicken, Stir Fried Mongolian Beef, Steamed Fish Fillet. Not sure why the Mongolian Beef is in the Western menu, but all three mains tasted great. As with meals at Dream Dining Room, you are able to get draft beers too.
Here, we also tried the white wines, which we found the Frontera Chardonnay tastes ALOT better than the Lindeman’s Chardonnay. As for the red wines, the opposite is true. The Lindeman’s Merlot tastes better than the Frontera Shiraz. For desserts, it was the Vanilla Mousse, which was…ok. We also had latte to go along with the dessert…
After dinner, it was time to check out our Balcony stateroom!
Cruise to Nowhere on Genting World Dream – Balcony Stateroom Review
We found the room to be rather spacious and the sofa was actually quite comfortable. The other plus we enjoyed about the room was the complimentary movies!
During the entire cruise to nowhere, we were able to catch a couple of movies such as Tom & Jerry and Onward. There are sufficient power supplies and even USB outlets. Which reminds us, our “donut” power extension was “safe-kept” before we boarded the ship. Eventually, we were only able to collect it at the end of the trip right before we cross back on the gangway. So, if you’re planning to bring one (like many others), you really don’t have to.
During dinner, we were able to finally make a reservation for both Faith (Dance, Theatre, Acrobatic show) and Vision (Magic Show by Vincent Vignaud). However, do note that slots are released every hour on the hour from 2pm onwards. Hence, you have to keep trying every hour till you get it for the day. Show slots for the next day only opens at 11am the next morning. As both Vision and Faith were available at 7pm and 10:45pm respectively, we managed to finally book them at 6pm when the new slots were released.
Magic Show Vision by French Magician Vincent Vignaud
After checking out our room, we headed to Zodiac Theatre at Dec 7 (Fwd) for the magic show Vision, by French magician Vincent Vignaud…
We’ve read several reviews online that says the shows on Dream Cruises aint that good. However, after Vincent Vignaud’s Vision, we’d say otherwise. It was good! Granted that we have seen most of the magic tricks before and probably can guess how he did it. However, there were still one or two really good tricks that we couldn’t decipher. Moreover, Vincent somehow spoke in Singlish! That was really hilarious when he interacted with the crowds – of course with very good safe management measures. Check it out if you’re sailing with Genting World Dream!
Before our next show at 10:45pm, we had some time to check out the rest of the ship and chill at various venues with our drinks package…
First, we had a drink at deck 8’s Mixt Cocktail Bar. From here, you can stare down to Bar 360 at deck 6. We were able to see the life jack demonstration on the platform of Bar 360 from here as well. We then passed by the Lobby at Deck 6, Bingo was already on at this time. But ship had not yet leave harbour…🤔
We also got 2 cups of Flat White from the Lobby Cafe – which we thought was where the best coffees onboard were…
We also found out that Bingo is a game that you shouldn’t play. Why? Because the person really reads the number too quickly and you may not have time to see all three cards on your hand. Secondly, the onus is on the player to find out whether he has “bingo-ed”. If he is not fast enough to see the numbers (by the way there is a final count for you to declare if you had bingo-ed), fast enough to peel off the numbers and fast enough to tell the host that he has won, it would still be a losing game – even if you indeed have a bingo line on your card. So to win, it is not only that you have a winning line, you have to know that you have a winning line and indicate it. That, to us, is how the house wins at Bingo.
After that in-depth analysis of the game, we headed outdoors to the boardwalk on deck 8 to enjoy the sea views and chill out by the outdoor patio of Tributes. The outdoor boardwalk is a really nice idea. A cool place to chill at.
Soon, it was time for Faith at 10:45pm on the first day…
As Dream Cruises had changed the theme to Oktoberfest at Sea, we were able to enjoy a nice little German folk dance prior to Faith.
According to Faith show’s description:
“A Dream Cruises’ signature show welcomes the audiences into a wold where East meets West. It is a remarkable production with an inspiring story that focuses on the journey of achieving one’s greatest dreams influenced by the company’s 25th anniversary. An original asterpiece from our very own in-house creative production team, conceived and realised exclusively for Dream Cruises.
Faith showcases a fusion of theatrical performances. Featuring international ballet dancers, acrobats, the breathtaking all-new “Trampoline act” of Imfera from Ukraine, and an amusing and cleverly put-together social-comedy routine act, the first of its kind onboard Dream Cruises.
All of this is supported by an artistically outstanding stage and LED graphic design together with the latest visual technology set to dramatically capture the essence of one’s dreams coming to life.
Experience this special journey with us as we continue to inspire generations to dream big and soar high.”
To be honest, we didn’t really get the entire artistic side of the show. However, the dances were actually not too bad and the acrobatics were good. Not entirely a let-down as what many have mentioned online.
After the show, we watched Onward back in our room. It was actually quite a good movie! We fell asleep halfway but continued on our second night…

Cruise to Nowhere Review of Dream Cruises’ World Dream: Things to do Onboard!
Hi, seems like the drinking situation (alcoholic beverages) onboard is pretty restricted to certain locations. If my party would prefer to have our drinks in our room, do you reckon it will be an expensive activity (Meaning, we purchase our drinks ala carte and bring a couple of beers/bottles of wine into our rooms to savor) ? Or would you recommend for us to just drink in the allocated locations with a drinks package(value wise)?
Hi Darren,
It really depends on how much the party drinks. As a general gauge, if the party consumes more than 6 drinks a day, then the package would be the preferred option. Otherwise, it could be cheaper to order ala carte.
Hope this helps! Enjoy the cruise ahead!
