From Singapore to Penang
The cool thing about flying with AirAsia is that we’re able to depart from Changi Airport Terminal 4 and finally got the opportunity to visit Blossom Lounge at Terminal 4. We took a bus and alighted at the “Airport Police Station”. From there it was a 10 minutes walk and before long, we had arrived at Changi Airport Terminal 4…
As we had previously visited Terminal 4 as part of its open house in 2017, we knew Changi T4 is a future-ready airport terminal with automated biometric lanes, duty free shopping and even a heritage zone. After a smooth check-in and customs, we soon arrived at Blossom Lounge – our first stop for the trip to Penang!
Prior to our visit, we had seen many negative reviews about Blossom Lounge. However, we’d happy to update that most of it were rather untrue. Blossom Lounge at T4 is actually quite a decent lounge with hot food, a salad bar as well as wide range of beverages including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. There’s even a seating area that overlooks the heritage zone of Terminal 4 – one of our favourite areas of Blossom Lounge
In fact, we enjoyed our experience so much that we wrote a separate post covering the offerings at Blossom Lounge of Changi Airport Terminal 4. Suffice to say, Blossom Lounge covered all the bases and can be a place to chill before your next flight out.

Bus Ride from Penang Airport to George Town
Flight time from Singapore to Penang takes only 1.5hours. The flight aboard AirAsia was comfortable and the immigration process at Penang was smooth as well. Before long, we had reached the bus stop outside Penang Airport for a bus ride to our first hotel this evening – Armenian Street Heritage Hotel.
The plane landed at about 6:45pm and we had planned to take the 7pm bus 401 to George Town. However, the bus arrived 15 minutes later than the scheduled time. Also, bus 401E, instead of bus 401 arrived and we had to re-orientate where to alight. Bus ticket costs 2.70RM per person and we waited with other staff from the airport who were heading home as well…
The bus ride took close to 1 hour and took us past several attractions in Penang, including Queensbay Mall which has famous restaurants such as Ippudo and Fridays…
As we got closer to Armenian Street Heritage Hotel, it began to rain and we actually missed our stop. Thankfully, the bus captain alighted us after we told him where we were heading to. This would not happen in SG as bus captains had to keep to bus stops for boarding and alighting. Still, it was a distance away and thankfully, we brought our umbrella along and managed to keep ourselves pretty dry as we arrived at Armenian Street Heritage Hotel…

Checking-In at Armenian Street Heritage Hotel
The reason why we decided to stay at Armenian Street Heritage Hotel is mainly because we had short evening after a late arrival in Penang. Hence, a budget-friendly hotel would help tide us through the first night before we head to Batu Ferringhi to start our beach part of the Penang travels. Turns out, Armenian Street Heritage Hotel was at an excellent location and costs only $35SGD per night. Moreover, it has a rooftop area where breakfasts are served daily. The breakfast costs 18RM ($5.5SGD) per person and is also pretty much affordable as well.
The room faces a back alley and so does not afford any view. However, it was clean. After settling into the room, we were ready to head out for dinner at Holy Guacamole, just 5 minutes walk to Love Lane where the Mexican restaurant is located. Dinner at Holy Guacamole Love Lane Penang
Holy Guacamole is a Mexican restaurant located in Love Lane Penang. Love Lane is also where several pubs are located, creating a little hipster area in George Town. This time, we visited Holy Guacamole because of the live band that plays here. Unfortunately for us, we were a little late and had to settle for the seats on the second level. Thankfully, as it turns out, the food at Holy Guacamole was excellent. Probably the best meal that we had during this trip to Penang. Moreover, the decorations were themed after “Day of the Dead”, reminding us of the movie Coco and the great times we had in USA…
This time, we ordered the Coronarita (RM65), La Bomba Nachos (RM35) and Mexico City Pizza (RM43) which were all pretty good options. The Coronarita reminded us of our time in Cancun, Mexico while our favourite item has got to be the La Bomba Nachos. The toppings and nachos are served separately at your table before the bubbling hot cheese, beef, capsicum combination is laid over the nachos like a melty, piping-hot blanket. Also, in the taste department, it was delicious with a strong cheese pull with each bite. Definitely a must-order if you visit Holy Guacamole in Penang’s Love Lane! Although we were seated upstairs, we also noticed some other patrons stating their preference to be seated downstairs and when the seats became available, they were shifted down thereafter. This is something you could do if you, like us, arrived a little late and were not able to get the seats at level 1 to enjoy the live music. Overall, Holy Guacamole is a recommended venue for great Mexican food and drinks if you’re in the vicinity of Love Lane.
