Pepper Restaurant is an in-house restaurant of Vinpearl Resort & Spa Phu Quoc. Located right next to the beach, Pepper Restaurant offers guests an unforgettable dining experience as the sun sets in the horizon and the evening breeze caresses you gently over dinner. Moreover, Pepper Restaurant is known for its grilled seafood options – something that we wanted to try during our visit to Phu Quoc. One of the main reasons why we wanted to have dinner at Pepper Restaurant was also because the buffet restaurant at Seashell was offering the dinner buffet at 730k VND (~$40SGD) which meant that dinner for both of us would be $80SGD – a cost that we wanted to keep a little lower.
However, we found that Pepper Restaurant is actually an upscale restaurant. As you can see from the decor within, there were tables that were set, complete with wine glasses, plating and a full bar. This meant that the prices would be upscale as well. Thankfully, we were able to check out the menu first and found some affordable dishes that we’d share with you in this post…
Pepper Restaurant Menu Vinpearl Resort and Spa Phu Quoc review
While strolling towards the beach at Vinpearl Resort & Spa Phu Quoc, we stopped by Pepper Restaurant to check out the Pepper Restaurant menu and found that even though most of the items were actually pricey:
Grilled Australian Rib Eye Steak 500k VND
Roasted Lamb Rack 520k VND
Grilled Jumbo Prawns 700k VND
Whole Grilled Lobster 1,200k VND ($65 SGD)
We also found some rather affordable options such as
Pan Seared Sea Bass 210k VND ($12 SGD)
Zucchini Fritters 200k VND
Tian of Crab 250k VND
Deep Fried Calamari 250k VND
Crunchy Chicken Salad 170k VND
Mango Sticky Rice 150k VND
Before we go into the details of what we had at Pepper Restaurant (Vinpearl Phu Quoc) this evening, let’s check out the vibes of Pepper Restaurant shall we?
Inside Pepper Restaurant Vinpearl Resort and Spa Phu Quoc Review
The first thoughts about Pepper Restaurant is the amount of space within the restaurant. The high ceilings also accentuate the space of the restaurant. Although the restaurant is not air-conditioned, Pepper Restaurant’s location next to the beach also provides waves of gentle breeze that caresses you as you dine by the waters. For those of you who are magnets for mosquitoes, do not worry. This is because the staff would go around in the evenings and spray repellants on your legs to prevent any bites during dinner. Of course, what we love is the dining experience by the beach…
Of course the main draw of dining at Pepper Restaurant is the views by the beach that it affords. Here, you’ll be able to enjoy the sunset from 5:30pm onwards, while sipping on a sunset cocktail. Thereafter, continue to wine and dine while the last rays of the sun leaves the sky as dusk approached while enjoying the gentle sounds of the waves. Definitely a different and unique dining experience.
What We Had at Pepper Restaurant Vinpearl Resort and Spa Phu Quoc Review
For dinner this evening, we went for the following:
Deep Fried Calamari 250k VND
Served with local style lemon and chili sauce, lemon edge
Crunchy Chicken Salad 170k VND
Rottiserie chicken, shredded cabbage, carrot, coriander, mint, peanuts, lime fish sauce and olive oil
Pan Seared Sea Bass 210k VND
Lemon and thyme risotto, Parmesan cheese with fried celeriac and parsley
This evening, we also went with free flow wine promotion (320k VND per person – available at both Pepper and Seashell Restaurant) which includes the
White Wine – Queulat Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc
Red Wine – Ochagavia Espuela Red Cabernet Sauvignon
Hence, instead of spending on the buffet for 2, we went with some great tasting items at Pepper Restaurant along with a liquid buffet. No overeating this evening 😉
For starters, we were served with bread with butter, appetizers and served our Sauvignon Blanc. It was great that both the breads and appetizers, which were delicious by the way way, were complimentary. We were also given a table by the beach and it was beautiful as the sun set over the horizon. We also had a close up view of the beach volleyball game which wound up pretty soon after sunset.
The Deep Fried Calamari was great. The calamari could be chewed easily while there was a nice breaded, crusty, crispy texture on the outside. Great start to our meal this evening…
One of the highlights for our meal this evening was the Crunchy Chicken Salad. As the name suggests, the cabbage was actually nicely crunchy, without any of the bitter aftertastes. But the highlight was the flavouring that we think, included the “secret ingredient” of Vietnamese Coriander – locally known in Singapore as Laksa Leaf. Superb touch to the salad. For budding chefs out there, consider this twist to the next salad that you’d be making, a delightful addition.
Of course, the most value-for-money dish for this evening was the Pan-Seared Sea Bass. At $12 SGD, we had originally thought that the menu had been printed incorrectly. What’s more, there would be a creamy risotto with pesto, altogether plated beautifully with a crisp pan-seared skin at the top. As for the taste, it was absolutely delicious. The sea bass was fresh and sweet while the creamy risotto complemented the entire dish well. Our choice of Sauvignon Blanc went well with the dishes ordered as well.

Conclusion
In all, we had a total of 6 glasses of wines each and were able to chill well into the evening. Definitely a great alternative to the buffet option this evening. Moreover, we were treated to some excellent cuisine at Pepper Restaurant. The Crunchy Chicken Salad was excellent and the Pan-Seared Sea Bass brought the whole dining experience up a notch. If you’re thinking of avoiding a meal of over-eating at Seashell, perhaps Pepper Restaurant and its amazing grilled seafood fare, could be an alternative for you as well!
