On day 17 of our travels in USA after KLOVE Cruise 2024, it was sadly time for us to return back to Singapore. As our flight was in the evening, we still technically had another day in Miami. Hence, we decided to chill out at Pembroke Lakes Mall before returning our car and heading to the Miami International Airport…
USA Trip 2024 Day 17 – Chilling at Pembroke Lakes Mall
We originally wanted to eat Waffle Town on the last day but it turned out to be SO crowded! So sadly, we settled for Avocado’s Food inside Pembroke Lakes Mall, which was not too bad actually.
We also spoke to the staff who happen to be from Venezuela, working for 2 years in the US. He intended to stay in the USA because of the political situation back home – something that we’ve heard a couple of times during this trip. After our meal, Kate bought some items from Macy’s equivalent of Ross (aka Backstage). We also had one last milk shake from Chick-Fil-A as well…
USA Trip 2024 Day 17 – Miami Springs
As we were still quite early while enroute to return the car, we decided to stop by one more place – Miami Springs, a small town close to the airport. Here, we also visited a farmer’s market that was about to close this afternoon…
We also stumbled upon the “footlong sidekicks” available at Subway. This time, we ordered the foot long churros and foot long cookie at $2 and $5 – and they were HUGE!
USA Trip 2024 Day 17 – Returning our Rental Car at Miami Airport
Just before returning our rental car at Miami Airport, we stopped by Texaco to refuel. However, we found the pumps to be designed a little differently from what we were used to during this trip. Hence, we dropped by Exxon to pump at the same price of $3.19 per gallon. The last refuelling cost us about $24 for 7.3 gallons, not much different from what we were pumping throughout the trip. Yup, not as crazy as the prices that you’ll get in big cities like San Francisco.
Returning the car at Miami Airport Car Rental Center was quite straightforward. Follow the instructions that will tell you which level to drop your car, according to the company that you rent from. Thereafter, just drop off the car, leave the car keys in the car and you’re good to go! It’s that simple! We reached back at 4pm, exactly as Kate had planned 🙂
To return to Miami Airport after returning the car, you just have to take the MIA Mover (free) and you’ll be there in a jiffy…
USA Trip 2024 Day 17 – Lounging Around in Miami Airport
The queue to clear customs took about 30 minutes for us to clear security as well as the body scan (full body scan machine). Inside, Concourse D and E are interconnected – though, to reach Concourse E, we have to take a train to our gate at E23. After searching a bit, we found a cigar shop at Concourse D and we bought the La Gloria 8th Street 2023 cigar ($33) as well as the Monticristo Premium ($27) cigars for a total of $60USD. We also calculated that we would pay about $17USD worth of taxes on the way back in Singapore and it was close to what we paid eventually at Changi airport.
After getting our final gifts, it was time to do some lounge-hopping. Starting with a visit to the Turkish Airline Lounge in Miami Airport Concourse E…
We were a little disappointed with the Turkish Airline Lounge because it was quite small and was already crowded when we arrived. Moreover, there were no hot food selection, except for a soup. The beverages selection was still not too bad with a cool coffee machine that grounded good coffee beans. After visiting the lounge, we left and took the train to the E20-30 gates which was quite fast. Boarding started at 6:40pm sharp. We arrived at Doha Airport and as we our arrival, we checked out the Al Maha lounge and were sent to the Oryx Lounge this time with an exact identical setting.

We hope you have enjoyed our 17 days of travel itinerary in USA after our KLOVE Cruise in 2024. Thank the Lord for giving us a good 2 weeks+ of rest and also finally joining a KLOVE Cruise after a year in planning. We’re also thankful for the relatively smooth drive throughout the trip, having opportunity to finally visit The Billy Graham Library, attend Seacoast Church and also check out the attractions in Charleston and Atlanta. A great trip overall thanks to the great folks from Charleston and Atlanta Visitor Bureau and as always, the meticulous and wonderful planning by Kate!
