Tom The Majestic Malacca was where we had our first night of stay in Malacca. From the onset, it does not look much at the entrance of The Majestic Malacca, but within, you’ll be able to find the amenities offered by 5 star hotels!

As we entered into the lobby of the Majestic Malacca Hotel, we can’t help but feel that we had been transported back in time, to a hotel in the Colonial era with a Peranakan theme. The lobby of the Majestic Malacca is filled with traditional Peranakan colours of pastel blue and pink while receptionists in traditional Peranakan dresses promptly brought us a cold towel to freshen us up.
At the entrance of the lobby stood The Bar at the Mansion. The setup resembles that of times past with a bartender dressed to the theme as well. Here, you’ll be able to mingle and have a drink (or two) while soaking in the mood of the Majestic Malacca Hotel.
Also at the lobby, traditional snacks such as gem biscuits and sour plums are freely available. Consider taking a handful back to your room to enjoy as well!

After checking in, we were led by a receptionist to our room. We were wondering why she was holding a relatively large basket while leading us to our deluxe room at The Majestic Malacca. As it turns out, she was carrying a basket which carried a pot of tea which was our in-room welcome drink! The basket was also relatively heavy as it acts as a warmer too. A lovely touch by the hotel!
Our room was situated directly opposite The Shore (a new mixed development in Melaka) and had a view over the Melaka River as well. But what we really loved about the room was the CLAWED BATH TUB and colonial styled bathroom tiles! The nostalgic feeling at the lobby of the Majestic Malacca continues in-room!

The Majestic Malacca has all the offerings of a 5 star hotel. You’ll be able to enjoy a relaxing massage at the Spa Village Malacca, gym by the pool or a dip at the swimming pool next to the gym. Do not put your expectations too high for the swimming pool (as we did because of the well taken pictures), it is actually quite small for a 5 star hotel. Dining at the Mansion (name of the in-house restaurant) is an awesome experience as we had our breakfast the next morning…

Using the same concepts as the Raffles Hotel and Casa Del Rio, the breakfast at the Majestic Malacca is also a partial buffet breakfast in that you’ll have a choice of mains from the menu and some lighter food choices at the buffet.
The ambience at the Mansion was lovely. Classy and elegant with well-spaced tables where you’ll be able to have privacy as you dine. Service was prompt as we were shown the menu with orders taken on the spot. Empty plates were promptly cleared as well. The only not so good part is that the Egg’s Benedict was disappointing. No flowy egg yolk here. 🙁 Nonetheless, you’ll be able to hear that you can choose ALL THE ITEMS ON THE MENU (unlike Casa Del Rio where you’ll only have 1 choice of breakfast off the menu) and we gladly chose the roti prata (or canai, depending where you’re from), nasi lemak as well as the scrambled and poached eggs.
The dim sum was not too bad as well. Choice of char siew buns, corn buns, siew mai and har gau. We especially love the selection of fresh fruits. They were superbly sweet!

The Shore is a mere 5 minutes walk from the Majestic Malacca Hotel. Here, you’ll be able to enjoy dining and shopping options. We enjoyed the Sumo Burger at Ninja Joe which had a really tender patty. Yum! The next morning, we headed back to the Shore to try our hands at a real Escape Game @ Lockdown (35RM per person). We tried the Candy House Escape Room which was meant for beginners. We actually took 10 minutes to enter the room! Unfortunately, we’re not able to tell you more (otherwise, you won’t enjoy it as much). Nonetheless, if we’re back at the Majestic Malacca, we’ll be sure to try another room at Lockdown!
Within a 2 minutes walk, Tai Chi Nonya House also offers great Peranakan Food. Ngoh Hiang and Otah are our recommendations. A great place for lunch or dinner!
To sum up, we take a look at our BASIC FACTOR and the score for The Majestic Malacca, is a 4!
B – 1. Clawed bath tub in a Colonial-styled bathroom. A clear winner!
A – 1. Feel of Peranakan and Colonial heritage all around the hotel.
S – 1. Smiles all-round with greetings as we leave or enter the hotel.
I – 0.5. Unfortunately, too small a swimming pool for our liking.
C – 0.5. Beds while comfortable were a tad too soft.
