Where to eat in Solvang Califonia!

Where to eat in Solvang California

Solvang is a Danish Village located at the West Coast of California. Founded by Danish immigrants, structures and even food still exhibit Danish styles and taste up to this day. If you’re thinking of visiting Solvang, here are some suggestions of where to eat while you’re there!

Technically, Pea Soup Andersen’s is located at Buellton. But since its only a short 5 minutes drive from Solvang, we decided to include this joint in our post.

To have a taste of the world famous pea soup, you can either go for the travelers special that includes all-you-can-eat pea soup, onion, cheese and pumpernickel breads including a choice of coffee, hot or iced tea, soft drink or milkshake (definitely go for milk shake) OR

You can go for the pea soup in sourdough bread. The sourdough bread was buttered over a hot plate before it was served, making it a crispy complement to the pea soup. Condiments are also included in this version. Our server also told us that we could ask for additional soup if we wanted to but we were mostly too full to go for another round of the pea soup. Make sure that you’re sharing if you’re going for this version because the portion is HUGE!

Verdict: Definitely worth it. But soup can thicken quite quickly and become gooey. Have it while it’s warm!

Solvang Brewing Company is a great venue to enjoy pub grub and awesome beers. We had the Helheim IPA ($6) as well as the Windmill Wheat ($5). Unfortunately, the fruity raspberry beer was not available that evening. Nonetheless, we enjoyed both beers (IPA more than the wheat) but would have loved the wheat beer to be more “wheaty”. Love the IPA though.

As for food, we went Danish and ordered the Danish meatballs garlic mashed potato and red cabbage (with soft pretzel @ $18.95). The meatballs definitely beat Ikea’s hands down. Huge juicy portions that went really well with the mashed potato and red cabbage. The finely mashed potato was awesome as well. Buttery, garlicky and smooth on each mouthful. But since we just had the pea soup before we dropped by, we were actually not able to finish the sides on this dish.

Likewise, we doggy-bagged the Stout Brownie ($8.95) and finished the ice cream before we left. The brownie was the crisp and chewy type, just the way we like it!
