In conjunction with our day trip to the Sequoia National Park, we visited Mercey Hot Springs for a tranquil getaway…
Mercey Hot Springs California Review
Rates at Mercey Hot Springs
Bath House Rates: $20 per person per hour
Facility Rates: Up to $45 for day use
Overnight Rates:
Camp Sites: Up to $50 per person per night
Cabins: Up to $205 per night (depending on the cabin chosen and each cabin has slightly different appliance within)
Air Stream: Up to $275 per night
Walkabout Cabin: Up to $425 for 7 people occupancy
Having “digested” the above rates, it made sense to stay overnight given that the rates for 2 people would be relatively close to the overnight rate per person. However, since we wanted to experience something different for a change (read “Glamping“), we decided to go for the air stream. Also, this was when Kate introduced us to the term “glamping” which is a word play between “glamourous” and “camping”…
Mercey Hot Springs Air Stream Glamping
We chose to do glamping with the air stream at Mercey Hot Springs because for about $100 more than the cabins, we were having our own toilet, shower, kitchen, a cozy corner to watch TV and private BBQ pit. By the way, you’ll have to bring your own DVDs. There’s no reception (both phone and TV) at Mercey Hot Springs. Part of the package to be “disconnected” and be rejuvenated, leading to the concept of tranquillity which we will talk a little bit more about later…

In addition to having the above-mentioned amenities, you’ll receive a complimentary 1 gallon of water and towels, which usually costs $2 each to rent.

At the swimming pool area, the hot tubs, sauna and showering facilities are co-located. At this hot tub area, clothes are necessary and the bath tubs are larger. However, for the adventurous ones, there’s a clothing-optional hot tub area next to the cabins. There is also a bath house, which has the hot spring waters, just that it is private and indoors.
Guests can also head over to the guest house to mingle, play some games or just chill at one of the comfortable couches.
Tip: Mercey Hot Springs is known for soaking in the bath tubs at night! This was a highlight for us because the night skies were really beautiful. Because of Mercey Hot Springs’ location, there are no surrounding “city lights” which allow the stars to be clearly seen at night. Kate and I enjoyed that evening…in our individual tubs.
While we were there, we also spoke to a voice actor. For privacy reasons, we shall call him Dave. Dave is really good at what he does and when he impersonates voices like the “movie voice over”, Russian spy, Sean Connery or even Mickey Mouse, he was spot on! Thanks Dave for such an entertaining evening under the stars!
Lastly, remember to respect the tranquillity here at Mercey Hot Springs. That’s what most people come here for, so respect it and have a relaxingly amazing time!
In and around Mercey Hot Springs
While we were doing BBQ, several bunnies were hopping around our air stream. Even more when we went for our morning walk the next day. After we finished with our BBQ ribs, we settled back into our air stream and caught Flight (Starring Denzel Washington) over a bottle of wine. The night was then completed with our very first BBQ smores with hot chocolate. Warmed us up before our hot tub night skies viewing…
If you own your own plane, there’s also a landing strip where you can stop by for the facilities and scoot right back home!
