We had been eyeing Aburi-En’s Weekday Value Deals for a pretty long time but were not able to find a weekday lunch time to visit. However, recently, we found that the weekday value deal happens ALL DAY long at Causeway Point, Northpoint City, Changi City Point, Tampines Mall, NEX, Suntec City outlets! Hence, we were finally able to try out Aburi-En’s cuisine as well as its 1-for-1 drink deals this time…
What is the Aburi-En Weekday ALL-DAY Value Deal?
If you head over to Aburi-En’s website, you’ll find that not all Aburi-Ens are created the same. Some outlets such as Junction 8, JEM, Isetan Scotts and Orchard Central only offer this deal during weekday lunches while others such as Guoco Tower, Chinatown Point only offers the deal as dinner options – presumably because these outlets likely have rather good foot-fall. However, as we scrolled through the website, we found that the Aburi-En outlets at Causeway Point, Northpoint City, Changi City Point, Tampines Mall, NEX, Suntec City offers ALL-DAY Value Deal on Weekdays! This also allows those who work to chill out at Aburi-en at affordable prices and enjoy their 1-for-1 beverages as well…
So what’s on the Aburi-En Weekday Value Deal? The menu is essentially the same across all outlets just that the 6 outlets above, offers them ALL DAY LONG on weekdays. Here’s what it includes:
1. Chicken Nanban Don Set (UP 22, Now $13) – Deep-fried chicken drizzled with tartar sauce, mixed salad on rice.
2. Buta Don Set (UP $23, Now $14) – Grilled pork loin, shimoji mushrooms on rice
3. Tonkotsu Chashu Ramen Set (UP $22, Now $13) – Ramen in pork broth with chashu
Why these weekday value deals at Aburi-En are so worth it is because each set also comes with
– Appetiser
– Mini Salad
– Asari Miso Soup
– Dessert of the Day (Panna Cotta, Cream Brulee or Mixed Fruits)
We have actually tried the Tonkotsu Chashu Ramen during a previous occasion and found it to be pretty good too. The braised pork chashu was so tender and the noodles, together with the broth – slurpilicious! Definitely a good option if you’re craving for a decent bowl of ramen. But in terms of “protein value”, the other two dishes definitely come up top and here’s why…
Ambience inside Aburi-En Causeway Point
Before we dive into the details of the ALL-DAY Weekday Value Deal itself, there’s something about the ambience of Aburi-En that we’ve got to mention – that they’ve got right.
Firstly, the ambience within was welcoming. They had a pretty good hold on the lightings, perfect for casual gatherings. There were booths if you needed some privacy but also seats that were cushioned – something that oddly, many restaurants do not have today. Secondly, we noticed the open-concept kitchen that allows diners to see and hear, literally, the chefs in action. You can hear the sizzles and flaming of your meats before they’re served, adding to the sensory experience of dining here. Lastly, we must say that the choice of lounge music – though not common for Japanese restaurants, somehow made the restaurant that much more classy – something that both of us noticed. A very pleasant surprise and kudos to the team designing the dining experience at Aburi-EN!
What We Had at Aburi-En Weekday ALL-DAY Value Deal?
First up, the Chicken Nanban Don Set. Surprisingly, the Chicken Nanban Don came up to be our favourite dish in the Aburi-En All Day Weekday Value Deal. This was because, the chicken had a nicely coated outer layer – complete with a hint of ginger that we love, while within, the chicken was tender and juicy. The tartar sauce made the dish rather appetizing while the chives complemented the tartar sauce pretty well.
Next, the Buta Don set came in a close second. We could taste the “aburi-ness” of the pork loin which was surprisingly tender but still sliced at sufficient thickness to enjoy the flavours of the meat. The gravy went really good with the rice as well.
As for the appetizers, sides and desserts – although the portion was actually quite small. We loved it that we’d still get a small salad to meet some nutritional value for fibres and the dessert of matcha panna cotta was actually pretty good. Beats some of the offerings that we’ve tried at hotel executive lounges even.
As we paid using the Kris+ App, we were able to get a scoop of matcha ice cream as well (complimentary with spend of $30).
Lastly, we were also pleasantly surprised by the 1-for-1 ALL DAY beverage deals at Aburi-En which included this $8++ 1-for-1 Classic Highball. Despite the affordable price, the highball had a rather decent amount of Jim Beam added to it. At $8++ for two drinks, definitely a steal!
Aburi-En Revisited
If you miss the weekdays deals at Aburi-En, we still think that it is a great place for gathering with friends. The outlets have an modern and relaxed interior decoration while at the same time, playing some relaxing music as well. Hence, we revisited Aburi-En and tried out their slightly more “atas” (high class) options such as the Truffle Roast Wagyu Don (with Onsen Tamago) – $19.90 + $2 and the Buta Unagi Jyu ($19.90). We also ordered the 1-for-1 Asahi Full Pint at $14…
We totally enjoyed the Truffle Roast Wagyu Don ($19.90 + $2 for onsen egg) which had a generous amount of wagyu beef which were so tender! The truffle flavours also permeated your senses on each bite. You could smell it as you bring each mouthful close and the luxurious truffle flavours lingers in your cavities thereafter. With the onsen tamago, it does heighten the overall taste as well! Yum! As for the Buta Inagi Jyu ($19), it has a high CP value where you get both the tender and smokey Buta as well as the delicious Unagi. Perfect choices if you happen to miss the weekday deals at Aburi-En as well!
