Singapore Staycations post-Covid are finally going to resume soon! STB has finally released the list of approved hotels for Singapore Staycations! There are currently 18 approved hotels on the list but this list is certainly set to grow in the coming weeks. When Singapore headed into phase 2 of re-opening of the economy, many were wondering whether Singapore staycations would be on the cards. Unfortunately, when phase 2 commenced on 19 Jun 2020, hotel reservations were still not allowed for staycations in Singapore as yet. Thankfully, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) announced on Friday (3 July 2020) that hotels can resume Singapore staycations once again. The caveat? As long as safe management measures are in place.

What measures need to be in place before Singapore Staycation can resume?

Some of these safe measures include:

  • Reducing capacity and inter-mingling of hotel visitors in the hotel’s lobby and guest facilities
  • Disallowing more than five individuals from different households from gathering in any guest room
  • Screening of every individual before allowing into the hotel’s premise
  • A rigorous cleaning regime
  • Implementation of SafeEntry
  • Essentially, measures have to be in place to avoid crowding or “bunching” from happening within the hotel. In addition, for hotels that are already utilised for COVID-19 related purposes, they will have to implement a form of segregation and let guests know that they are providing COVID-19 related accommodation.

According to Todayonline, STB will take approximately 14 days to assess these applications and should these hotels be approved, weekly data will have to be submitted to alert STB of COVID-19 cases.
