BBQ Box at Chinatown was where we decided to head to for lunch after our staycation at The Clan Hotel. Of course, the visit was accompanied by a 50% discount on food, courtesy of Eatigo App…
First impressions is that BBQ Box Chinatown is very well kept. The place is clean and the tables are well spread out (likely due to the ongoing P3HA measures). There are several Mao-related displays – perhaps to add to the authenticity of dining at a Chinese BBQ place.
The highlight of dining at BBQ Box is, of course, the box itself. It allows food to stay hot because within the box, candles are litted to transfer heat to the aluminium foil. When the food is placed on the foil, it is kept warm (and sometimes hot, depending on its location in relation to the candle). This is what makes dining at BBQ Box an unique experience – no more cold BBQ meats on sticks!
What to eat at BBQ Box Chinatown
As for the choices of meats, you could choose from chicken, pork, beef, lamb and even the various innards such as chicken heart and beef tongue. You could also choose from typical chinese side dishes such as cucumbers, tofu skin and also the lotus root (which we ordered)…
We really enjoyed all the BBQ items with secret peppers, spices and cummin. The beef and pork were tender while the innards had the firm texture and crisp as it ought to have. We also had the BBQ pork knuckle where gloves were provided for guests to gnaw incessantly at. 😁
To add to a satisfying meal, everything were washed down with the 700ml Tsing Tao Beer at $5.80.

All in all, it was a worthwhile visit to BBQ Box. The meats and flavours were authentic and the restaurant itself was kept prim and clean. However, without the 50% discount, it would not be that worth while as our $18 bill would have escalated to close to $30 bucks. Still, if you’re yearning for a good chinese BBQ meal with authentic tastes and a nice ambience, BBQ box would still remain as a good choice.
