Casa Del Rio’s Deluxe Lago Room definitely exuberated the wow factor as we entered it. With 50sqm of floor space, the bathroom could afford a HUGE bath tub and standing rain shower facility. What’s more, the panes slide open for you to enjoy soaking in the bath tub or even opens to a view of the Melaka River and Malacca Strait. As the name of the room suggests, you’ll be able to view the body of water that is the centre piece of the interiors of Casa Del Rio. A perfect start to a relaxing holiday…

As a 5 star hotel, Casa Del Rio has all its bases covered. A library for guests to read, relax and have some coffee and snacks while you’re at it. There’s even a resident librarian who stocks up quite a collection of books of all interests as well. In the mornings, Kate and I would work out at the gym. Small but has the essentials of a treadmill, free weights and all-in-one gym machine. The Satkara Signature Massage goes for 180RM but comes with a 50RM discount if you’re a in-room guest. Not too bad a price for a 5 star hotel of 1 hrs 30 minutes treatment. But what we enjoyed most was the infinity pool!
Because of the number rooms at the hotel (only 66 rooms), the swimming pool did not get crowded. On a bright and sunny afternoon, there were several deck chairs that were available. After we sat down, a plate of watermelon and 2 glasses of water were promptly served! The best part? Unparalleled views of the Melaka River and Malacca Strait! Yet another ingredient for a relaxing stay…ah…
Breakfast at Casa Del Rio Melaka Hotel

There’s only one word to describe the breakfast at Casa Del Rio Hotel. Excellent. The breakfast at Casa Del Rio is a mix of buffet and choice from the menu. You’ll be able to choose from a variety of eggs such as Eggs Benedict, Croque Madame and daily specials such as Eggs Florentine and even Hokkien Mee. But choose wisely because you’ll only be able to choose ONE (sadly so). If you’re not sure what to have, go for the Eggs Benedict, a perfect combination of toast and nicely poached eggs. Mmm Mmm…
The buffet portion includes nasi lemak, noodles, porridge, a selection of breads, cheeses and cold dishes. There is also freshly squeezed orange juice which we had seconds (and sometimes thirds, fourth…).
Last but not least, what we really enjoyed was the ambience by the Melaka River. A cup of gourmet coffee (go for the flat white or latte) with the daily news by the river? Perfect!
To sum up, we take a look at our BASIC FACTOR and the score for Casa Del Rio Melaka Hotel, is a perfect 5!
B – 1. Huge bathtub, hand-made cinnamon soap, bath salts and a rubber duckie!
A – 1. Classy, luxurious and majestic. Relaxing ambience in the heart of Melaka’s heritage.
S – 1. Great service all-round at the restaurants and guest services.
I – 1. Splendid views from the infinity pool overlooking the Melaka River and Malacca Strait.
C – 1. A comfortable restful sleep with turn downs of different scents (Jasmine n Kaffir Lime)…
