Although the the San Francisco 49ers were not faring well last season, we were still ecstatic to be able to catch the 49ers (known as affectionately) LIVE at the Levi’s Stadium!
San Francisco 49ers LIVE @ Levi’s Stadium on Game Day
How to get to Levi’s Stadium

There are a couple of options to get to Levi’s Stadium to catch the 49ers. Of course, the most direct manner would be to park at Levi’s Stadium itself. However, there are 2 downsides to that. Firstly, it’s expensive! To park at the Levi’s Stadium on game days would set you back at least $40. Secondly, due to the number of cars (and people) leaving after the match, you’ll find yourself snaking along in the parking lots before being able to head out of the vicinity of the stadium. Hence, it’s recommended (and many locals do this) to park and ride to Levi’s Stadium.
What we did was to drive to Alum Rock Station (or any other stations on the same line) and parked there. Parking was free but you’d probably have to be slightly earlier to get a parking lot. Next, we bought a $4 pass for unlimited rides on the VTA (Valley Transportation Authority) for 8 hours ($8 for the both of us) and took the light rail which only took about 20 minutes.

The atmosphere outside Levi’s Stadium was already awesome when we arrived! There were many cars in the parking lots outside the stadium and many were starting their own grills and barbecue – akin to a mini carnival. The entrance into Levi’s Stadium was pretty smooth. If you do not have an official San Francisco 49ers clear bag, all you’d have to do will be to deposit your bags at the bags deposit tents , grab a ticket and head right in. Plus, you can bring your own food into the stadium – that can help save some money 😉

For big name teams, visiting their stadium is as much an experience as the game itself (think Old Trafford for Manchester United or Bernabeu for Real Madrid). So we made sure that we had sufficient to tour the stadium prior to the match…

Singing the national anthem at a big game is a huge deal for singers. This time , we heard Lawrence Beamen sing and he did indeed give a resounding rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Wonder if soccer matches in Singapore start with Majulah Singapura as well…
The match itself was the last game of the season and it went into 2 overtime. But we finally won! Yay! The game of American Football is actually really exciting and the rules are pretty easy to understand as well. Well, once you get pass the jargons. In reality, all you have to know is that
– Each team as 4 tries (or downs) to advance 10 yards during their turn. Failing which, the turn will be handed over to the other team
– The objective is to have to score in the end zone by doing a touch down (6 points) or kicking the ball through vertical raised posts (3 points)
– If a team scores a touch down, they can attempt another field goal kick (kicking through the goal posts) for 1 point or try another touch down for 2 points (seldom ever done unless a team is trying to catch up in a very close game with very little time left)
Leaving Levi’s Stadium
Leaving the Levi’s Stadium was a pleasant affair. Everything was arranged in an orderly manner and ushers would guide you to the correct lanes to take the light rails. The frequency of the light rails were quite good as well. We waited for about 15 minutes for the train to come. Before long, we were back at our car in Alum Rock. Of course, a game day would not be complete without supper right? So we enjoyed a huge bowl of pho at Pho54…

We thoroughly enjoyed the 49ers beat the Rams during this match and hope that their good form carries on into the current season. Hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage of the Levi’s Stadium – Home of the San Francisco 49ers (aka Faithful)
