Cornerstone Taphouse Taupo was where we headed to after our Lake Taupo Maori Cave Carving Cruise…
The name first attracted us as we know that Christ is the Cornerstone in our lives. But Kate was also attracted by the greyish-blue facade on the exterior of Cornerstone Taphouse – one of the “in” colours today. As we still had time on our hands and that the weather was cool outside, we decided to grab a pint to get back our “land legs” after the cruise.
Inside Cornerstone Taphouse Taupo
Inside Cornerstone Taphouse Taupo, the greyish-blue colours that Kate loves extends to walls inside the pub. We love the cool vibes within. Music was lively and you could play some pool inside as well. Even the direction to the toilet had a little humour added to it –
“Empty your tanks just around the corner”
Beer We Had at Cornerstone Taphouse Taupo
After our time in Hanoi, we had quite a good education on the craft beer scene. Prior to our “education” in Hanoi, IPA was one of our favourite craft beer – especially the version from Brewerkz. However, we now have 2 more favourites – the Hazy IPA as well as the Double IPA where the former is a little more fruity while the latter has the fragrant and aromatic woody, hoppy flavours.
At Conerstone Taphouse Taupo, there are also daily specials such as
Monday – Burger and Bevy Monday All-Day for $26
Tuesdays – Teapot Tuesdays from 5PM till Late for $12
Wednesday – Fried Chicken All-Day for $10
Thursday – 2-for-1 Cocktails 5pm till Late
Friday – 3pm to 7pm deals on Jugs and Sample Platters
There’s also Happy Hours from 3pm to 6pm daily at Cornerstone Taproom Taupo. This time, we chose the Haze of Glory IPA at Taupo Taproom Cornerstone for only $28 a jug. It was simply delicious!

We were so glad to have chose the Haze of Glory NZIPA because it turned out to be such a delicious craft beer! The texture was rich while the flavours were refreshing with fruity flavours. Our visit to Cornerstone Taphouse Taupo was initially just-a-pint kinda visit that turned out to be a jug shared among the 2 of us. But we were thankful to have found Cornerstone Taphouse with such a delicious Hazy IPA, enjoyed in the cool weather of Taupo. A refreshing and relaxing time spent here at Cornerstone Taphouse Taupo!
