After our little boo boo at Dancing Crab VivoCity, we managed to regain our $50 dining voucher within a couple of days and we decided to utilise it at Dancing Crab Northshore Plaza Punggol.
Dancing Crab Northshore Plaza Punggol Menu
As the dining voucher purchased via Kris+ is only able to be utilised via the ala carte menu (vouchers do not apply to discounts or promotions such as the Value Lunch Sets), we scanned through the ala carte section of the menu at Dancing Crab Punggol…
As we did not want to spend too much for the lunch, we decided to go with
1. Nachos with Crab Meat $15.8 (we are at Dancing Crab afterall right?)
2. Braised Seafood Beancurd $15.8
3. Deep Fried Prawn Roll $14.8
The total came up to slightly over $50 due to service charge and government taxes Thankfully water is complimentary at Dancing Crab Northshore Plaza Punggol…
Inside Dancing Crab Northshore Plaza Punggol
While waiting for our food, we also checked out the ambience inside Dancing Crab Northshore Plaza Punggol…
While inside Dancing Crab Northshore Plaza Punggol, we noticed that the premise was clean and decorated to the style of a beach shack – just like Bubba Gump in the US. Slappy Cakes is located next to Dancing Crab at Northshore Plaza. If you look past it, you’ll find a little bit of views over the Johor Straits. Not exactly dining by the waters but you do get some views in the horizon. Lastly, we noticed that the crabs within the tanks are indeed very active. During our time there, they were stacking over each other, trying to help each other out of the slanted tank. This simply shows how “lively” the crabs were – definitely fresh!
Soon, our food arrived at the table…
What We Ate at Dancing Crab Northshore Plaza Punggol
Our meal started off with the Braised Seafood Beancurd ($15.8). There were several pieces of flavourful deep fried beancurd along with with mushrooms scallops and prawns. Although there wasn’t a “wow factor”, it was pretty decent as we love the garlicky base as well.
Next, the Nachos with Crab ($15.8). We found that the unique part of this nachos is how it exudes a “aburi” – flame torched flavour. The smokey cheese portion along with the crab bits were pretty good. However, we found that there was not enough cheese. This made the middle parts of the nachos left without any cheese to accompany. Our favourites to date would still be Macho Nachos (Elvez Philadelphia) as well as the La Bomba Nachos (Holy Guacamole Penang).
Lastly, the Deep Fried Prawn Roll ($14.8). Commonly known as hei zhor, the deep fried prawn roll at Dancing Crab has a flaky outer layer that we love. Within, the ingredients were firm, sweet and flavourful. A great rendition.
All in all, we had a satisfying meal at Dancing Crab Northshore Plaza Punggol. It’s a pity that we were not able to utilise the voucher along with the Value Set Lunch because we really enjoyed the Value Set Lunches much more than the ala carte meal today. If you had tried out the Live Crab/Lobster Combos from Dancing Crab, let us know more in the comments section below as well!
