Inside Dancing Crab VivoCity
Before we talk about the food itself, a quick word on the ambience of Dancing Crab at VivoCity. The interior decoration was done in the industrial style with wooden tables and chairs. A little bit of mismatch but the overall feel was still inviting nonetheless. The part that we enjoyed the most are the seats at the corner of the restaurant with views out to the harbour. From time to time, you’ll find other visitors heading to the platform outdoors to take photos of the harbour from VivoCity. There are actually also outdoor seats at Dancing Crab, which we think would be a great venue on a nice cool evening.
What We Had for Dancing Crab Value Lunch Sets Review
Before long, our drinks were served – Lavender Lemonade and Pink Thyme Lemonade
As it was the halloween season, the lemonades were served with the ghoulish eyeballs! Yikes! We also had fun shifting the eyeballs around to make it seem as though they’re staring at us while we’re dining. 🤣
As for the drinks itself, we thought both were pretty good. You could taste the thyme and lavender which made the drinks rather classy. But remember to mix the drink thoroughly as the sugary parts can be rather sweet. Allow time for the eyes to melt and it would be just right in terms of sweetness and flavours.
Soon, it was time for the main event…
First off, we must say that Poached Rice in Lobster Bisque Soup served with Fried Fish Fillet value set has the highest CP value (or Cost-Performance Value), aka the most value for money. Because for $19++, you’ll find a very tasty poached rice in lobster bisque with several pieces of seafood AND served with freshly fried pieces of fish fillet on the side. Seafood + Seafood = Great Value.
In terms of taste, it was probably one of the best poached rice we’ve tasted. It starts with the lobster bisque that was rich and savoury without any hint of the “fishy” seafood taste. But what we really loved with the creaminess as well. Just like an atas bowl of lobster bisque, imagine the same quality in a much larger portion with rice AND crispy rice infused in its goodness. Perfect. There’s also ample ingredients to go with such as prawns, scallops and fish slices. The other highlight is the sides which is perfectly fried – crumbly on the outside with fresh fish fillet within.
From our perspective, if you’re dining at Dancing Crab’s Value Lunch, the Poached Rice in Lobster Bisque Soup served with Fried Fish Fillet is definitely our top pick!
Next, the Exploding Crab Fried Rice served with Beer-battered Calamari ($19++). Probably the next highest CP-value on the Dancing Crab Value Lunch Sets. The fried rice had a generous portion of crab on top – though not as fresh as we’d like, the highlight was really the fried rice. Fragrant with individual grains – how an excellent plate of fried rice ought to be. The other highlight is the beer-battered calamari. Couldn’t really taste the beer part but we must say that the batter along with the fresh calamari is probably one of the best fried calamari we’ve had. Yum!

To end off the meal, we dipped the brioche into the remaining lobster bisque. When well-soaked, the brioche and lobster bisque offered a delicious twist on the meal as well. All in all, Dancing Crab’s Value Lunch Sets definitely offer excellent value. Some have better value than others but we’ve covered the 2 highest CP-value in this post.
