Danro Collagen Hotpot Buffet Punggol Waterway Point (美人锅): Worth it!

Ministry of Food has set up 2 buffet concepts at the corner of level 1 at Punggol Waterway Point. We’ve visited Daessiksin (大食神) Korean BBQ Buffet previously and thought it was not worth a review. This time, we visited Danro Collagen Hotpot Buffet Punggol Waterway Point to try out its 美人锅 (Beauty Hotpot) and thought it was well worth it.

The price of Danro Collagen Hotpot Buffet Punggol Waterway Point is actually pretty inexpensive. At $24.90++ for adults (and $13.90++ for kids) for dinners and weekends, it’s not too bad. But if you’re able to make it for lunch during weekdays, prices goes as low as $15.90++ for adults and $11.90++ for kids! Now, that’s a steal! Do note that you’ll have to top up $5, if you’d like to try the collagen soup base.

Most people know that digesting collagen (a type of protein), does not directly improve your skin. This is because, it breaks down into amino acids which helps you to rebuild muscle tissue. This means that a collagen hotpot will have little impact in helping you improve the condition of your skin. Moreover, collagen is tasteless. Hence, it will in no way enhance the taste of your hotpot.

Therefore, from the perspective of savings in our pockets, go for the normal soup base instead of the collagen soup base.

In terms of choices of ingredients, it had a slightly wider variety compared to Daessiksin (大食神). However, what trumped Daessiksin (大食神) was the selection of meats here. Although served in smaller portions, the beef was most certainly more tender and tastier than its neighbour next door. The only downside is that you’ll have to keep walking back to the meats counter to get a top up yourself.

After Tom went for 5 rounds, he also felt a little pai seh, especially when the staff gave the “It’s YOU again” death stare. This could be the tactic that Danro deploys to limit the number of rounds each visitor goes for? Hm…

The answer to the above question is a YES. If you head over during weekday lunch, then it would be a RESOUNDING YES!

Besides the quality beef that Danro Collagen Hotpot Buffet serves, prawns were fresh as well. Something that is not so common for buffets at this price. As mentioned before, the downside was that the fact that you’ll have to stand in line to top up on your meats. Another smaller factor was that the ice cream was so frozen that it was really difficult to scoop – fingers paining 🙁
