As Singapore marches on towards digital payments, DBS PayLah seems to be one of the leaders in this aspect. As we found out, there are currently more than 250 hawkers in Singapore that uses DBS PayLah. This means that in the near future, we won’t have to struggle with “fishing” the last 10 cents out of our pockets or waste time waiting for the change from the cashier. Just scan, pay and go!
Thanks to the great folks at DBS (big shout out to Alvin!), we got an opportunity to try out DBS PayLah at the hawkers of Toa Payoh West Market and Food Centre….
Step 1: Identify the DBS PayLah Sign
Hawkers that accept DBS PayLah as a form of payment, has the DBS PayLah sign easily identifiable. As you can see from the photo, the DBS PayLah and QR code is right at the front of the store. This allows the patron to easily scan the QR code for payment. This brings us to step 2…
Step 2: Scan and PayLah
This time, we tried to order the chendol at Cool Desserts – one of the many stalls that accept DBS PayLah at Toa Payoh West Market and Food Centre. After ordering, we just had to scan the QR code and key in the amount (we still can’t believe that the Chendol is only $1!?). Once the confirmation is shown, you’re good to go!
Step 3: Enjoy!
Of course, the last step is simply, to enjoy! As it was a hot and sunny afternoon, the cooling chendol was definitely a welcome treat!
Although we’re still in our infancy, we at 2bearbear.com, really hope that we’ll be able to see that unified form of digital payment soon. This really makes things alot more efficient and that would be a great first step as we head towards our vision of becoming a Smart Nation!
P.S. Can we do all of the above while retaining our miles accumulation on KrisFlyer? Certainly did enjoy our flight on SQ First Class! 😛
