To begin this post, we really have to start with what happened at the Calgary Airport on the morning of our flight…
That morning, we woke up at 3:30am, spent $40 for a cab ride from Calgary Marriott Downtown Hotel and arrived at the airport at 5am as our flight was scheduled for 7:30am. To our horror, when we arrived at the airport, we were told that the flight had been pushed earlier to 6am! This, we were not informed about. Thankfully, the airport staff of United Airlines at Calgary Airport, was patient in assisting us (given that there was a huge storm in Chicago that affected many other flights). They not only helped to put us on the next available flight out, we were also given meal vouchers and a night’s stay at the Delta Calgary Airport Hotel, a mere 5 minutes walk from Calgary Airport. Yes, it’s the only hotel connected to the airport itself.

The room we stayed in was simple but comfortable. There was cable in the room and a view of the swimming pool as well. Wifi was complimentary which allowed us to keep our friends and family updated of our change in flight.

Facilities at the Delta Calgary Airport Hotel includes a gym, a business centre, a lounge and a restaurant. In particular, the restaurant, known as North 51, is reputed for their steak. By the way, did you know that Alberta (state where Calgary is in) is the steak capital of Canada?

Thanks to the meal vouchers provided by United Airlines, we were able to have a few yummy treats at Calgary Airport during our stay at Delta Calgary Airport Hotel. If you’re having a meal at the Calgary Airport food court, do try out the orange chicken at Manchu WOK.
