Franquette is a bakery located at Tamborine Mountain, about 1.5 hours drive from Brisbane City. It was our first stop for our drive up to Tamborine Mountain and we were glad to have had a rest stop here while visiting the other offerings along Long Road at Tamborine Mountain.

What We Had at Franquette Tamborine Mountain

Franquette is known first as a bakery and secondarily as a cafe. Hence, as a bakery, its flaky pastries are a must try. This time, we had the almond croissant ($9.5). And as a cafe, it offers reasonably priced coffee as well as deli sandwiches. This time, from the list of baguettes and toasties, we chose to have the Roast Beef Baguette ($16 – rare roast beef, housemade tarragon and dijon mustard cream, horse radish and mix salad). We also shared a large cup of Flat White ($6) to perk ourselves up for the rest of the day.

We must say that both the almond croissant and roast beef baguette were both absolutely delicious. After seeing the roast beef baguette, we understood why it was priced at $16. It could be a mains. As you can see, there was a generous portion of roast beef and even after cutting into 2 portions, each portion was still a mini meal by itself. In the taste department, we absolutely loved the homemade sauce and roast beef. Together with the crunch from the mix salad, it was beautifully crafted. As for the almond croissant, it had the flaky outer layers, chunky sizes of almond flakes as well as a delectable frangipane within. Excellent stuff.

If you’re driving to Franquette, we’d recommend parking along the road side because there is an “inverted” hump on the way into the parking at Franquette. For cars with bumpers, driving past it could be tricky.
Overall, we had a great time visiting Franquette. Although we found both prices of both the baguette and croissant to be a tad bit pricey, there was indeed quality in what they served. Moreover, the friendly staff, laid back vibes and tranquil surrounding, does add to the name of Franquette – which means, “without any fuss” or “frank”.
