Thanks to the great folks at Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty (big shout out to Shana and team!), we were able to experience this gem of Bolgatty – probably the best luxury hotel in Kochi!

Checking-In to our King Bed Backwater View with Grand Club Access @ Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty
The lobby of a hotel is akin to the face that greets its guests and is typically where guests would be wowed by a grand entrance. With its high ceiling, beautiful decor and views of Vembanad Lake upon entry, the lobby of Grand Hyatt Kochi does make a good first impression.
After a nifty security check (safety of guests is of paramount importance), we were promptly checked-in and led to our room at level 5 – a couple of steps away from the Grand Club, Grand Hyatt Kochi’s Club Lounge. As we entered our King Bed with Lake View Room, the curtains unveiled (literally), this view of Vembanad Lake…
As the guests services staff was still showing us the interiors of the room, we withheld our “oohs and ahhs” (albeit with much difficulty) and continued to check out the modern design and amenities in the room.
There were several things that we liked about the room…
1. Multi-Plug Socket. With the multi-plug socket, travellers (like us), won’t have to bring along an additional adaptor anymore. This is because, these multi-plug sockets used in the room are compatible with US, UK and USB plugs! Love it!
2. Swivel TV. We just can’t stop raving about the 360 degrees swivel TV can we? Whether in the bath tub, on the bed or simply enjoying some in-room dining, you can swivel the in-room TV to just about any angle that you desire. International HD channels such as HBO, Nat Geo and Cartoon Network are available as well.
3. Double Rainshower. These days, rain showers are quite common. But have you experienced a double rainshower? Grand Hyatt Kochi does pull out all stops to make sure that even the shower experience is a luxurious one.
4. Shower Amenities. Still in the well-appointed bathroom, the huge bathtub is accompanied by June Jacob’s Spa Collection bath amenities. Bathing salts are also available.

As we had Grand Cub access with our Vembanad Lake View King Bedroom, we were able to access the cocktail hours (daily from 6 to 8pm) as well as breakfasts here. An exclusive venue for an added touch of class, the Grand Club was where we stopped by for a cuppa and views of the city. When alcoholic beverages can served up in December 2018, the Grand Club will certainly be a sought-after venue for pre-dinner drinks and lively interactions.

Being a 5-star hotel, Grand Hyatt Kochi has all the frills of having an in-house spa, gymnasium, indoor pool, in-house restaurants, beauty salon, scenic boardwalk by the backwaters and even a world-class convention centre next door.

Santata Spa is the in-house luxury spa of Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatta. Here, you’ll be able to experience traditional Ayurvedic and international massage treatments. With 7 treatment rooms, indoor pool, steam room, sauna, lounge area and a hydrotherapy plunge pool, Santata Spa is a definitely a venue to get that much needed relieve – whether you’re a guest at Grand Hyatt Kochi or not.
This time, we experienced the Swedish massage treatment and were immediately impressed by the professionalism and skills of the therapists. Firm and flowing strokes relieved the tension on our backs and shoulders, leaving us relaxed and rejuvenated after the treatment. Ah…
24 Hours Fitness Centre (Gymnasium)
Besides being a fully equipped gym and fitness centre (meaning free weights, machines, treadmills – the full works), the 24 hours gym also has in-house trainers that provide fitness and exercise regime for guests of Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty. Tom also experienced the gym and found that the high-tech treadmills were fully operational. Meaning, he was watching Two and a Half Men on Comedy Central while challenging himself to some inclined jogs.
Swimming Pool and Family Friendly Facilities
Besides being a luxury resort, Grand Hyatt Kochi has definitely taken positive strides in enhancing the experience for the little guests of the hotel through water slides, outdoor play area and even a day care for parents to “deposit” the young ones while they too can enjoy facilities of the hotel themselves. As the saying goes, “Happy Children, Happy Parents” right? This, we thought, Grand Hyatt Kochi has done really well…
Many-a-times from our room, we were able to see kids enjoying the slides and playground of the premise. A popular venue for the little ones. At the indoor play area, kids can learn arts-and-crafts, play board games, do gaming on PS4 and even catch some magic shows. Akin to a children’s club aboard cruises, there’s a full day of activities and programmes planned for the little ones – everyday of the week. Parents don’t have to worry too much and can have a ball of a time at the spa, gym or in-house restaurants, knowing that the kids are well taken care of.

Headed by Executive Chef Hermann Grossbichler, Grand Hyatt Kochi aims to satisfy the cravings of guests and locals through 3 different dining concepts at Colony Clubhouse & Grill, Malabar Café and Thai Soul restaurants.
Colony Clubhouse & Grill
During our visit to Colony Clubhouse & Grill, we were not only impressed by the tastes of western and local fusion foods (i.e. Western concepts with local ingredients), sustainability is also a huge aspect of the restaurant. Ingredients are sourced locally, ensuring that particularly for seafoods, the choices are sustainable. Even the fire for the grills are fired with coconut shells. Besides being sustainable, the smoke infused into the grilled items here bring an added dimension of flavours.
The rooftop bar is also a perfect location to kick back, relax and enjoy the view and drinks…

Malabar Café
Besides being able to serve the most authentic Kerala tastes, the uniqueness of Malabar Cafe is that spices are grounded in-house. That means, N-O (NO!) pre-mixes used whatsoever. Whether it’s fish, chicken or mutton masala and curries, all of them are produced and grounded in-house. You can even request for customisation of the various spices. Hence, there are many returning customers to Malabar Cafe Kochi. This time, we tried the Karimeen Fry as well as the Mutton Egg Dosa and became instant fans. Fresh fish and spices – the perfect combination. For desserts, we were thrilled by the cakes and pastries put up by the pastry team. A real surprise and delight on each bite! 🙂

Thai Soul
Recreating the flavours of Bangkok Street Foods, Thai Soul is probably the top Thai restaurant in the whole of Kochi. During our visit, we tried the Chicken Fried Rice, Pad Thai, Stir fried garlic chicken and mango sticky rice. All of them had authentic Thai flavours. Thoroughly surprised us that we were able to get such great Thai tastes in India. Later, we found out that many of the ingredients such as fish sauce and soy sauce are imported from Thailand. If you’re craving for great tasting authentic Thai food in Kochi, think no further. Thai Soul @ Grand Hyatt Kochi would be your preferred choice.

Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre
Kochi’s premier MICE (Meeting Incentive Convention Exhibition) centre is also located next to Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty. Known as the Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre, the venue recently hosted the Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) 2018, entertaining over 3000 guests at its premise. The logistics and F&B must have been executed like clockwork in order to host such a large scale event. If you’re thinking of hosting large scale MICE events in Kochi, Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre would definitely be on top of the list – with 3 helicopter pads on site! Wow!
