What We Had at Han's Union at Bird Paradise Mandai Wildlife Reserve - Iced Yin Yang ($4), Herbal Chicken ($13.8), Signature Tonkotsu ($13)

One of the reasons why we visited Bird Paradise at Mandai Wildlife Reserve was because of the free parking that it offers from 6pm onwards. Yes, it means AFTER the park has closed. Then, why would one want to visit Bird Paradise after hours? This is because the dining outlets are still open (mostly until 8pm) – except for Collin’s till 10pm. This time, we visited Han’s Union at Bird Paradise and we were the only ones at the restaurant during a week day. If you don’t really like the crowds or want to feel like you’ve booked the entire restaurant for your next date, Han’s Union at Bird Paradise could be your next venue to consider…

Han’s is known for its casual vibes that serves out local delights such as curry chicken, beef stew, hor fun, fried bee hoon and more! At Han’s Union Bird Paradise, you’ll be able to get signatures such as the Hainanese Pork Chop with Rice, Tiger Prawn Laksa as well as something for the kids – fish and chips, burgers and pasta!

What we like about Han’s Union at Bird Paradise is the environment. Because of its location in the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, it is surrounded by greenery and at sunset when it’s not so sunny, you’ll be able to enjoy the cool, fresh air amidst a tranquil environment. This time, within the restaurant, we could feel the tranquility as we were the only ones in the restaurant until the time when we were about to leave when another young family arrived.

Lastly, the great part about dining at Han’s Union @ Bird Paradise is that the parking is FREE after 6pm! For those in the know, you’ll would have found out that there are some play areas for the kids as well as several dining options at Bird Paradise. This means that you can let the kids enjoy some play time at the playgrounds at Bird Paradise, cool down a little, before dining at one of the restaurants available till 8pm (or 10pm for Collin’s).

Although there was no crowd in the evenings, we must say that the food quality at Han’s Union is actually pretty good. There’s probably a good crowd for lunches that keeps the restaurant operating and the ingredients fresh. This is because, we found the chicken in the Herbal Chicken ($13.80) to be fall-off-the-bone good and the Signature Tonkotsu ($13) to be delectable as well. Even the Yin Yang ($4) (or some know it as Yuan Yang – Hong Kong or Cham – Malaysia for a mix of coffee and tea), was rich and delicious as well.

All in all, we were looking forward to a venue to just unwind for the evening but were pleasantly surprised by the good quality of food that Han’s Union offers. The prices are rather affordable as well. In all, our meal came up to just above $30. There were actually no additional taxes included with GST included in the prices listed. That’s pretty cool and wallet-friendly as well.

If you’re thinking about where to unwind, away from the crowds this evening. Perhaps you might want to consider Han’s Union at Bird Paradise. With free parking after 6pm and dining venues still open till 8pm at Bird Paradise, Han’s Union might just be our next favourite venue for dinner options in the future! 😉
