Highlands Coffee is a Vietnamese Coffee Chain set up by Vietnamese American David Thai in Hanoi, 1999. Today, it has been acquired by Jollibee Foods Corp and will be expanding its operations further in Vietnam. This time, we visited an unique Highlands Coffee outlet at Truc Bach Lake – a floating boat cafe to be exact!
Highlands Coffee Floating Boat Cafe Truc Bach Lake
This particular Highlands Coffee is actually located on a floating platform that overlooks Truc Bach Lake. You can either walk in via the main road or like what we saw, motorists were able to park in front of the entrance and walk right in. Within, it is just like any other Highlands Coffee. Nope, it wasn’t shaky, unstable or anything like that. Hence, you don’t have to worry about being “sea-sick” while dining at the Highlands Coffee Floating Boat Cafe…
There are two levels to the Highlands Coffee Floating Cafe. At the first level, it is where you order the food and drinks. There are coffee seats and most importantly, it is indoors. So this level is protected from the elements, whether it is the hot summer’s day heat or the wintry cold winds. At level 2, it is where the views are at, overlooking Truc Bach Lake…
As it was the winter season, we had to contend with the gusty cold winds at level 2. While the view was good, it was brrrr…

Highlands Coffee Floating Boat Cafe at Truc Bach Lake – Menu and What We Had
At Highlands Coffee, there are “set meals” of coffee and banh mi as well as drinks and cakes. This time, we ordered the Chicken Banh Mi, Iced Milk Coffee as well as a Banana Cake…
This time, we ordered the coffee banh mi set (59k VND) and the banana cake (29k VND) which added up to a total of $5 SGD! After our visit to another Highlands Coffee outlet, we also discovered that the Highlands Coffee Floating Boat Cafe has prices that are slightly (about 5k VND) more than the other outlet. Probably due to the excellent views of Truc Bach Lake…
