Hotel Ponce De Leon was where we resided during our first 2 nights in Miami prior to our Klove Cruise embarkation day. The 2 nights of stay allowed us to accustom to the time difference between Singapore and USA. Also, with its location less than 20 minutes away to the Port of Miami, it was an ideal location for us to recuperate from the jet lag and even visit some of the attractions in the vicinity!

About Hotel Ponce De Leon Miami
Built in 1923, Ponce De Leon Hotel is one of the few buildings built in the Mediterranean Revival architectural style in the Coral Gables downtown area in Miami. Since inception, it has been serving as a hotel, which includes through the tumultuous times of World War 2, Korean/Vietnam War, dot-com bust, SARS and even the more recent COVID-19. Each time, overcoming the challenge of the times to remain as the Grand Old Dame of Ponce De Leon Boulevard.
Inside our Room of Hotel Ponce De Leon Miami
The lobby of Ponce De Leon Miami was functional. There was a waiting area as well as a small window through which you can communicate with the staff for check-in. Once inside the lobby, we got our keys from the staff and walked up the stairs to our room 2 levels up.
Inside our room of Ponce De Leon Hotel, our first impression was that it was clean and spacious. A nice surprise contrary to what we have read online. Even inside the toilet, it was beautifully appointed, clean and dried when we arrived…
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ponce De Leon. The room was clean and bright. Especially for the toilet and shower, there was no sightings of grime nor dust. A very well-maintained room. Moreover, there’s our favourite cable TV channel, HGTV as well. This allowed us to binge watch our overseas travel series such as House Hunters, House Hunters International as well as My Lottery Dream Home. The only gripe we had was that the microwave oven was not connected to the power supply. As the cable was right behind the refrigerator, it was actually quite hard for guests to reach. Hence, we were not able to use the microwave oven to warm up our Cuban sandwiches from Sanguich De Miami. But it was still alright actually since the Sanguich still had the “crunch” when we had it…
In and Around Hotel Ponce De Leon Miami
Staying at Hotel Ponce De Leon has its perks as well. Just less than 5 minutes away, you’ll find a Target Store where you can get groceries, baked goods and even do some simple shopping – because it is a much smaller Target as compared to its megastore siblings. Nearby, you can also stroll to “Miracle Mile” where you can find restaurants, cafes and shops in the heart of Coral Gables Miami. Lastly, if you’re adventurous like us, you can even take a 1 hour stroll to Little Havana Miami. This was also where we got to enjoy some of the best tacos we’ve ever had as well as probably the best “Cuban sandwich”. Why is “Cuban Sandwich” in apostrophes is because we’ve asked Cuban friends that “Cuban Sandwiches” that we’ve had in the US cannot be found in Cuba – something which we found to be true during our last visit to Cuba.
