Have you ever wondered why the troubles in your life never seems to end?
– Endless examinations in school
– Relationship problems
– Mounting work that never ceases
– Demanding and unreasonable bosses
– Financial, health and mental health issues
It seems that we all go through many different problems through life. But, it is not unexpected. Because in the “Life Manual” – the Bible, Jesus mentioned
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
Jesus was sharing with his disciples about His impending death on the cross – a time that they will grieve. Wasn’t Jesus the King that was to come to save them from Roman rule? Over 2000 years ago, on the very first Good Friday, this would have been on the minds of the early believers – that the King they believed in was crucified on the cross. How could this be?
But Jesus went on to share that their grief would turn into joy. We now know that 3 days later, Jesus rose from the grave. He was resurrected from the dead! This was also when Jesus appeared to more than 500 early believers (1st Corinthians 15:6), testifying that He was alive and this turned their sorrows into joy.
When Jesus arose, He overcame sin and death, paying our debt once for all and for all time. He is the King who takes away the sins of the world. This is also why He told us that He has overcome the world.
I do not know the trouble that you are now facing. It could be work, school, relationships, health or financial matters.
But Jesus knows.
And He has asked you to place your faith in Him.
This Good Friday, will you also put your trust and believe that Jesus died for you and me? On the very first Easter Sunday, the day that God arose, He indeed overcame the world. He will journey with you, whatever troubles or “fires” you are facing or will be going through.
This song, Fires, by Jordan St. Cyr has encouraged me through the difficult times of my life. It tells of God being faithful, carrying us through, giving us strength as we go through the troubles in life. Hope it encourages you as well.

A little something for those of you who are feeling down and out. Cochren & Co wrote a song “Thank God for Sunday Morning”. For all the “Saturday Nights” – the low times that you’ve been through, there’s a “Sunday Morning” that the Lord has in store for you. Check out this sharing and short clip of the song by Cochren & Co.
Have a Blessed Good Friday weekend! May you too receive the true joy and life that Jesus has accomplished by His death and resurrection over 2000 years ago. 🙏
