Jianghu Hotpot was the next stop on our Eatigo trail as we checked out the 50% discount here. In this Jianghu Hotpot review, we’ll check out the hotpot soups, appetizers, ingredients, desserts and some game offerings here?
About Jianghu Hotpot at Bedok Point
Jianghu Hotpot serves up Szechuan-styled hotpot and delicacies with an autumn-themed interior decor…
Jianghu Hotpot seems to serve an “in between” target audience who wants to have a better dining experience with premium ingredients, but not at Hai Di Lao prices. The feel of the restaurant does achieve that with a clean, spacious environment as well as cushioned and window seats available. Price wise, it is very much palatable for this target audience as well…
Jianghu Hotpot offers both ala carte and buffet options for its hotpot. For the buffet option, there are 2 main categories of the Royal Buffet (fr $22.8++ to $29.8++) as well as the Elite Buffet (fr $39.8++ to $46.8++) that offers premium ingredients such as free flow wagyu slices, prime spanish black pork, whole pomfret as well as slipper lobsters and Australian crawfish! For these premium ingredients, the prices does come across as rather affordable.
Jianghu Hotpot Review – What We Had
As the 50% discount was only available for the ala carte option, we sat down to look through the Jianghu Hotpot Menu…
This time, we ordered
1. Minced prawn with capelin roe ($13.80)
2. Wagyu slices ($23.80)
3. Meat festival ($15.80)
4. Mixed mushroom combo ($9.80)
In addition, we also topped up $3 per person to get
– Appetizers / Cold Dishes
– Drinks
– Ice Cream
– Desserts
– Fruits
Soup was $8.80++ for 2 different choices and this time, we chose Pigs Trotter’s Soup and the Signature Vegetable Spicy Oil (gotta try this at a Szechuan hotpot restaurant right? 😋)…
One of the added perk of ordering the Pig’s Trotters Soup at Jianghu Hotpot was that the soup comes with its own ingredients (great for ala carte diners) and even a small pig’s trotters within!
The $3 add-on quickly delivered value with a huge serving of cold dishes, drinks and even desserts (as starters?!)…
Before long, the appetizers of chicken feet and cucumbers were brought to us, along with servings of red bean soup 🙄 The appetizers and red bean soup were pretty good actually. The red bean soup was not too sweet and was pretty well soaked. The chicken feet was also marinated with a mixture of vinegar and chilies which left you salivating while gnawing incessantly at the gelatinous parts. Shiok!
Soon, the condiments cart was rolled over for us to choose and mix our dipping sauce. Reminded us of the Dream Cruise Hotpot experience at sea…
By now, we have come up with an SOP on dipping sauces. First, the base of a little seafood sauce and the various sauces of chili oil, sesame oil, a douse of soy sauce and alot of sesame sauce. Then, the fresh condiments of green onions (loads of it), parsley, a wee bit of chopped chilies, completed with some sesame seeds. What’s your favourite dipping sauce combination? Let us know in the comments section below!
Next, the ingredients for the hotpot…

First up, the Jianghu Hotpot Meat Festival. For those who are undecided, this is like a “taste platter” that allows you to try the three different meats of beef, pork and lamb. Also, as you can see from the picture, we’re having window seats – a great spot for hotpots at Jianghu 🙂 This is how the meats turned out after being cooked in the hotpot for about 20 seconds (we like to cook it just a tat bit longer)…
Turns out, our favourite was actually the lamb. No gamey lamb taste and it had a nice firm bite to it. Of course, the other meats, with the fatty bits were shiok as well. However, for real fatty meat lovers, the wagyu slices does do the trick…
The Jianghu Hotpot Wagyu Slices only “does the trick” because besides being tender, there wasn’t really much taste on the beef itself. Unlike our Takayama Hidagyu experience, you can see that there’s a huge difference here…
Of course, there are different grades and varietals of the wagyu meat. The ones at Jianghu is probably a lower grade and hence the lack in taste. Nonetheless, the tenderness and fattiness still does exude itself. Next, the minced prawn with capelin roe…
We particularly enjoyed the minced prawn at Jianghu Hotpot. The presentation was beautiful and after cooking, the portion was pretty decent. In the taste department, it was springy with a mild sweetness. Yum!
The mushroom set rounded up our orders…
For desserts, you can have unlimited servings of ice cream from the fridge (self-served) or fruits. This time, we had 2 ice cream each! 😋
An interesting event happened during our visit. There was actually a power outage! 🤭 During this time, we continued to gnawed on a second helping of the chicken feet (which was still so good). Thankfully, the outage didn’t last long and we were among the 2 tables that were occupied at this time. The servers did come around to apologise and served up the appetizes and drinks quite promptly in the meantime.
Final Thoughts on Jianghu Hotpot Review
The total damage came up to less than $50 for 2 pax after the discount and we were SOOO FULL!! This means that we had actually came in lower than the $70 damage, should we have gone for the buffet option for 2. Also, because we didn’t have to “fight against time” to get more out of the buffet deal, we had a nice leisurely hotpot meal, cooking the ingredients to suit our palates. After settling our bill, we were given a free play on a the UFO machine…
The staff gave us a coin, which we inserted into the machine to get the game going. We were told that the game will continue until we manage to catch a gift. Hence, it was a “sure-win” game! Eventually, we got a 20% discount voucher. Not fantastic, but the gaming experience was rather novel and fun.

All in all, we had a great time of hotpot dining at Jianghu Hotpot. The service was not as bad as what had been touted online (probably because we were on the ala carte menu) and the dining experience was not too bad as well. Ingredients wise, we were not really impressed, not by the wagyu slices. Nonetheless, the soups were really good and after cooking of the ingredients, the soups became so delectable. Plus, no thirsty feeling afterwards – meaning that no artificial flavourings were added. If you had tried the Elite Buffet at Jianghu Hotpot, let us know your dining experience (especially for the crawfish and lobsters) in our comments section below!
