Tom During our recent visit to Bali, we realised that we could actually walk from Denpasar International Airport (aka Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport) to Kuta Playa Hotel & Villas! This could mean that the legendary holiday venue where the airport is within walking distance to the holiday destination, DOES IN FACT EXIST!!
With the opening of the beach board walk, you can actually walk from Bali’s Denpasar Airport all the way to Kuta Beach! We walked first from the airport to the Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali and took the board walk to Kuta which took us about 40 minutes. A beautiful walk by the way. We’ll most definitely do it again when we visit Bali again. In fact, you can walk from the airport all the way to Kuta, Legian and Seminyak!

We stayed at the Kuta Playa Hotel & Villas for 3 nights via Agoda and there was a discount which was not available on Kuta Playa’s website. After the discount, with tax inclusive, the price was only $68 a night, with a central location, a mere 6 minutes walk (yes, we timed) to the Beachwalk Bali Shopping Mall.
What we really enjoyed about staying at the Kuta Playa is its excellent location. Beach front location, walking distance from Beachwalk Bali and if you’re game enough, walking distance from Denpasar Bali Airport. Being located at the beach front also meant that we could easily walk along the beach and be at the Legian Beach area in minutes. There, we were able to grab some drinks and enjoy the awesome sunsets while surfers caught the waves till the last ray of sun left the beaches.
The swimming pool was also a great place to chill and people watch. Chill, literally, because of the hot summer sun. As the pool is constructed with a “fish tank” concept, we were also watched by passers-by as we looked on toward the activities at the beach.
What we didn’t enjoy? The massage. We paid 300,000 IDR expecting to receive a foot bath, 1 hr massage, body scrub and body lotion thereafter. However, the entire session ended 20 minutes early and there was no foot bath or body lotion. We had to remind the staff who gave us the body lotion at the end. Moreover, the body scrub was not really a scrub, it was more of a “lather and rinse”. So for the same price, we’d recommend one of the best massages around in Bali, the Martha Tilaar @ Beachwalk shopping mall.
