On day 2 of our travels in Langkawi, we opted for the 3-hours Langkawi Island Hopping Tour that departed from the jetty at Resorts World Langkawi. But our first order of the day was to check out the breakfast buffet spread at the in-house restaurant of Resorts World Langkawi known as Seagull Restaurant…
Breakfast Buffet at Resorts World Langkawi Seagull Restaurant

As mentioned in our previous post, the buffet breakfast at Resorts World Langkawi (Seagull Restaurant) costs 40RM per person (or ~$12.5 SGD). However, if you make the payment a day ahead, you’ll have a 5RM discount. Hence, for the both of us, it was 70 RM ($22 SGD) for 2 people. The breakfast itself does cover most of the bases. You’ll be able to find cereals for the kids, fruits and salads, local selection such as rice, porridge, noodles and prata as well as a small western selection of sausage, eggs and tomatoes. Coffee and Tea are included as well. As it was raining this morning, we decided to chill a little at breakfast till 10am. At about 9:30am, the rain did clear up but we thought

In terms of quality of the food, they were fine. Our favourite would be the vegetarian curry that went with the roti canai. You can add a little bit of sambal to add that extra heat and tanginess which made it more savoury. We also enjoyed the vibes within the restaurant, decorated to the nautical theme that befits that name of the restaurant. Even the chairs had that patina paint that made it look a little older, a little more “vintage”, but of course, they’re new.

After breakfast, we took a stroll along the boardwalk to the jetties located outside of Resorts World Langkawi. From our hotel, we were able to see several boats departing and returning from the jetty the night before and this morning. There, we saw that the prices were slightly cheaper at 40RM for the island hopping trip and judging by the number of tourists that boarded the boats this morning, island hopping at Langkawi seems to be a pretty popular activity…
Island Hopping from Resorts World Langkawi
We went back to our hotel to rest and chill before coming out to catch our island hopping trip from Resorts World Langkawi at 2:30pm.

All you have to do is stroll all the way to the end of the board walk and when the other guests start to follow a boat captain towards the boat at 2:30pm, follow them and that will be the start of your island hopping trip in Langkawi!
You can read our full review of Resorts World Langkawi Island Hopping here.

Once you’re onboard, the captain will do a simple safety brief, reminding you to wear your life jackets once onboard and also not to stretch your hands outside of the boat during the trip. Also, to recognise the boat and boat number so that at end of each stop you’ll know which boat to get back to. It was easy for us during this trip because our boat from RWL was the only boat with a red awning over the top.
Pregnant Maiden off Langkawi

Our first stop, well not really a stop because we stopped right in the middle of nowhere. But when our boat Captain asked us to look left and described the contours of the hills, we were able to see the shape of a pregnant lady lying down. If you look and observe the contours closely, you’ll be able to notice this “Pregnant Maiden” off Langkawi as well…
Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest Park

Our next stop was Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest Park. The interesting thing about this stop is that there’s a fresh water lake known as the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden, or locally as Tasik Dayang Bunting. Here, you’ll be able to do simple water sports like swimming or kayaking in the freshwater lake. For us, we just chilled by the floats and dipped our lake into the freshwater to cool off from the heat of the day. To enter the premise, you’d also have to pay 6RM for entry per person. We were given an hour to stay here before returning to our boat.

As we returned to the jetty a little earlier, we treated ourselves to a Ramly-styled Beef Burger for 12RM. We could see that the chef was quite skilled in thinning out the egg and carefully placing the cooked beef patty in-between before wrapping them up. Thereafter, lathering with mayonnaise, chili and topped with vegetables for that added crunch. Not too bad.
Eagle Feeding Point
Our 3rd “stop” was another stop at sea where we witnessed the feeding of the eagles at Eagle Feeding Point.
If you take a look at the video, you’d see the eagles swooping down from the skies to the surface of the waters. Guess what they were swooping down to get? CHICKEN SKINS! Apparently, the chicken skins were able to float on the surface of the water and allowed the eagles to see and reach them with their claws. It was quite an experience to be surrounded by so many eagles, circling in the skies while they come down one-by-one, just like an aerobatic performance. Whoever would have thought eagles loved chicken skins?
Beras Basah Island

Our final stop was Pulau Beras Basah, a beach stop where you can dip in the calm shallow waters or swing by the trees ashore. There’s supposed to be some food venues but when we arrived at 4pm, they were already closed. Nonetheless, the waters off Pulau Beras Basah is very clear and calm, great for a post-trip dip before returning back. There’s also a row of brightly coloured structures (or small houses) by the beach, which makes for good instagrammable posts as well.
Resorts World Langkawi – Dinner at Villa Rossi and Massage at Impiana Reflexology and Spa
We returned to Resorts World Langkawi at about 5:30pm. Quite accurately timed for a 3 hours island-hopping trip. We didn’t feel too exhausted and the pace was nice. We bought some wines and played pool next to the bar – you’ll have to make some beverage purchase in order to draw the balls from the counter at Villa Rossi…

The condition of the pool table was not too bad. Located inside the games room, there are 2 pool tables and a big screen that plays ESPN during our visit. We also had dinner at Villa Rossi – a Grilled Chicken Chop for 39RM as well as 2 glasses of wines at 10RM each. The chicken was quite small in portion but you could taste the smokiness of the grills. This evening, we also witnessed some beautiful purplish hues across the skies…

We also made reservations for 2 at 8pm at Impiana Reflexology & Spa – the in-house spa of Resorts World Langkawi. We went for a 1.5 hours full body massage at 312 RM (or about $95 SGD) for 2 people due to a 50% off the 2nd pax. This works out to $32 / hour which was not too bad in terms of cost. For Kate, she enjoyed the massage thoroughly. However, for Tom, it was “nightmar-ish” because the masseuse didn’t arrive 15 minutes into the massage and Tom had to go out to the reception to ask for the masseuse who turned out to be a male who was still having his dinner. When he entered, the smell of his dinner still lingered during the massage and because of his calloused hands, the massage was not so enjoyable. To reduce the smell of his dinner, he also had a sweet in his mouth which made the sound when he moved it around his mouth. Felt a little rushed for Tom. Kate had a good massage though.

Perhaps one way would be to request for a lady masseuse in advance if you were to try out the massage at Impiana Reflexology & Spa…

It was pretty enjoyable to be chilling at breakfast in the morning and riding the waves during the island hopping tour in the afternoon from Resorts World Langkawi. The tour covered the major sites and it was indeed beautiful even out on the waters as you moved from island to island. Definitely a recommended tour if you have time to spend. As for the spa experience, it is likely a hit-and-miss. Request for a lady masseuse to increase your chances of a good massage experience which Kate had. This evening we slept at 11pm. Stay tuned as we head over to Sky Bridge Langkawi on Day 3 of our travels in Langkawi!
