On day 4 of our travels in Langkawi, we started the day with breakfast at Dash Resort Langkawi…
Buffet Breakfast at Dash Resort Langkawi

Our stay at Dash Resort Langkawi was $160 SGD per night and it included breakfasts daily. In terms of variety, the breakfast buffet at Dash Resort Langkawi was fairly extensive. There’s a selection of pastries, cold cuts and fruits – which by the way, were very sweet and fresh. There are of course local cuisine, including nasi lemak with sambal, mee goreng, roti canai as well as curry ayam (chicken). There’s also an egg station that serves scrambled eggs, sunny side up, over easy and omelets.

One of the surprises of the breakfast buffet at Dash Resort Langkawi was the sparkling wine served each morning. However, there’s a small catch. That is, you can pour the wine yourself and if the staff pours, they can only pour half a flute. Still, it was a novelty to have sparkling wine served because you’d usually only find them at high end 5 stars hotels, or, for breakfasts onboard a cruise (think mimosas)
Langkawi at Kuah Town Attractions Near Dataran Lang
After breakfast, we decided to head over to Kuah Town, the capital of Langkawi where many attractions such as the waterfront board walk, Dataran Lang (HUGE Eagle Statue), Maha Tower (Eiffel Lookalike) and Lagenda Park (Langkawi Legend Park) are located. The Grab ride was 25 RM but did go as high as 42 RM for a 30 minutes journey. Our first stop was the Jetty Point Complex…
Jetty Point Complex

One of the reasons why we chose to alight at Jetty Point Complex was because of its alighting point, easy-to-find destination on Grab and last but most importantly, its proximity by foot to the remaining attractions in the area. This morning, we started with one of the new drinks at Zus – White Peach Oolong Cham Latte (11.90 RM) which was super tasty. Who knew peach goes well with cham? (cham is a cross between coffee and tea, much like yuan yang in Hong Kong).
Dataran Lang Langkawi

Unfortunately for us, the Dataran Lang, one of the most prominent eagle statue attraction in Langkawi, was closed for renovation when we arrived. Hence, we could only manage a shot of Dataran Lang during our stroll along the waterfront board walk. Thankfully, the Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall nearby gave us a respite from the sun…
Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall

We were actually pretty surprised by the number of stores and how clean and spacious Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall was. There were brand-name shops such as Sketchers, Puma, Nike, Under Armour and Bata. This time, we bought a pair of socks from Puma (cute pair that resembled puma sneakers!), a panda float from Mr DIY (7.3RM) so that we could use it at Dash Resort Langkawi, My Melody towels from Happy Home (4.9 RM each) as well as a UV Umbrella for protection from the sun this afternoon (30 RM). Kate also bought some good deal *wink wink* here (59RM for 6).
Lagenda Park (Langkawi Legend Park)

Langkawi Legends Park, also known as Lagenda Park is a very beautiful public space where you’ll be able to find giant statues that depict local legends, such as the Clasped Giant Hands found here. We also got a beautiful shot with the row of sunflowers with Dataran Lang in the background. From here, we continued walk along the waterfront boardwalk, along Lagenda beach where we took great shots of Dataran Lang as well as Maha Tower…

Our final stop was originally supposed to be Al-ikhsan – a sports wear store at Langkawi. Unfortunately, it was closed when we arrived. Hence, we called for a Grab to Yuan Spa. However, at 2pm, Yuan Spa was not ready to take us in for our 3pm massage. So we took a short walk to Riyaz Lavana Hotel where we checked out its rooftop bar known as Sail…
Riyaz Lavanya Hotel SAIL Rooftop Bar

One of the reasons why we wanted to check out SAIL Rooftop Bar at Riyaz Lavanya Hotel was because we saw that it was one of the tallest buildings along Cenang Beach with a rooftop bar – meaning, there would be great views from this location. We were right. The views from SAIL Rooftop Bar at Riyaz Lavanya Hotel was probably one of the best we’ve seen. From here, you’ll be able to see the entire Cenang Beach as well as the nearby islands. To the east, you’ll be able to enjoy mountain views as well. Of course, the bar itself was beautifully decorated with the casual yet modern vibes. This time, we had a Guinness Draft Beer (15 RM) as well as the Angel Cocktail (29RM). Ordering drinks here also allowed you take a dip in the roof top pool – though there’s no views from this particular pool at Riyaz Lavanya SAIL.
Foot Reflexology at Yuan Spa Langkawi

We were thankful to have found a gem of a spa at Yuan Spa during our visit to Langkawi. On our first visit to Yuan Spa (yes, we made a couple of visits), we did the foot massage for 78RM per person (or ~$25 SGD). The reason why we enjoyed our visits to Yuan Spa was because of the entire package that it offers.
1. The premise is clean and inviting. You’ll be asked to be seated at the waiting area where tea and towels would be served.
2. If you’re going for the foot massage, a foot bath would be done at the waiting area as well.
3. The ambience was perfect. The music was soothing and the air con temperature was set to a nice cool temperature.
4. Lastly and most importantly, the massage treatment was so awesome. For our foot massage, the masseuse would check back regularly with us to ensure that we felt comfortable with the correct pressure used.
After the massage ended, we were served a hot red date tea (cold tea at the start) and we also proceeded to quickly book our next visit. It is highly recommended to make a booking in advance as the schedule can get quite packed at Yuan Spa.
We took a stroll back from Yuan Spa back to Dash Resort Langkawi and we stopped by Aloft Hotel where we found that the day pass was 60RM. The day pass allowed visitors (non-guests) to use the infinity pool at its 3rd level, inclusive of a drink and a snack.

In the evening, we managed to take a walk along the beach as what we did the night before. Then the heavy rains came. We chilled by the pool while the Dash Beach Club music continued despite the rain. We were able to do so because of the shade that the cabanas offered. We stayed till late because the fire twirlers were supposed to start their performance at 9:30pm. Due to the rain, it was probably cancelled and we left earlier at 9pm because the rain just got heavier. Tom then used Grab Food to order a Lotus Biscoff Cheesecake from Secret Recipe for 145RM for Kate’s Birthday! As we were not able to finish the entire cake ourselves (of course not!), we cut half and gave it to the receptionists who were very happy to receive it.
Stay tuned as we checked out the Surf and Turf Weekend Dinner Buffet at Riyaz Lavanya Rooftop Bar SAIL in our next post!
