Day 5 of our travels at Langkawi was spent chilling by the swimming pool of Dash Resort Langkawi for almost the entire day. This morning we had breakfast from 8am to 10am. However, the control on the sparkling wine was a little tighter today even though a bottle was only about $10 – each refill was to be only half a flute each time…

Thereafter, we chilled in our room till 12pm and had drinks by the pool till 4pm…

At about 6pm, we took a Grab over to Riyaz Lavanya Langkawi’s SAIL Rooftop Bar for their Surf and Turf Weekend Buffet!
Riyaz Lavanya Langkawi’s SAIL Rooftop Bar for their Surf and Turf Weekend Buffet
The Grab from Dash Resort Langkawi to Riyaz Lavanya was 4RM and we arrived slightly early at 6:15. Hence, we got ourselves a mojito (20RM), chilled by the pool before the buffet started at 7pm…

At 7pm, we made our payment for the Surf and Turf Weekend Buffet at Riyaz Langkawi SAIL Rooftop Bar at 98RM per person. Yellow wristbands were placed for us after payment and we went over to the buffet spread to check out the offerings…

The selection was actually not too bad. There was lamb, beef, prawns, chicken wings, spaghetti, fried rice, salad, dessert and mango juice/water. All the BBQ items were made ala-minute by the chef who setup a make-shift BBQ pit next to the swimming pool at about 6:45pm.

As for the quality of the items, the lamb was good while the chicken wing had the smokey BBQ flavours. However, the “steak” was meh. Rather tough and not as rich in flavour. The prawns on the hand was excellent! Did you know that they actually started with Tiger Prawns? Yes, Tiger Prawns! Although it lasted only for a couple of rounds, the subsequent prawns were also fresh, sweet and succulent! Loved the simple way that it was prepared – with garlic and lemon juice. Yum!

As the Surf & Turf weekend buffet starts around sunset, we were also treated to beautiful sunsets over the horizon during our meal. Thank the Lord for His marvellous display in nature’s beauty! At Riyaz Lavanya SAIL Rooftop Bar, the view of Cenang Beach was amazing as well. You can see the entire beach area given the height of the hotel. In the distance, we could see beach goers doing water sports on ski jets, banana boats and para-sailing.
At the rooftop bar, there’s also a jacuzzi that faces the north, all the way to the other end of the beach. At night, we could see several hotels and restaurants hosting their own fire twirling performances. Great night views as well!
