About Maxim Grill (aka Cappadocia Turkish Restaurant)
Maxim Grill is located in the heart of Kampong Glam and we really enjoy the vibe of just strolling along Bussorah Street. Within, the bluish hues, Turkish lamp and traditional designs on the walls and table mats, immediately transports its diners to Turkey.
After browsing through the menu, we decided that we wanted to try the humus that Turkey is famed for as well as the various Kebabs available. Hence, we chose the Meze Tabagi as well as the Karisik Kebab Maxim…
What we had at Maxim Grill (Cappadocia Turkish Restaurant)
We were pleasantly surprised by both Meze Tabagi ($22) and Karisik Kebab Maxim ($43). First off, both portions were HUGE! As there were only the both of us, we had difficulty trying to finish everything. The two portions were probably more suitable for 3-4 people 😅
The Meze Tabagi is an assorted platter of the favourite mezes; hummus, babakanus, saksuka patlican salata, ezme, yaprak sarmasi & rus salatasi, served with a hot Turkish lavas bread. What we enjoyed was the very rich flavours from the various dips. Though they resembled different types of “hummus” to us, the name actually suggests otherwise. But if you taste carefully, you can indeed appreciate the various flavours that this dish combines. Coupled with the Turkish lava breads and vegetables, it was healthy yet authentic taste of Turkey right in this platter.
The Karisik Kebab Maxim on the other hand is a magnificent feast of succulent beef, lamb and chicken kebabs lavishly spread over a traditional Turkish silver platter an indulgent culinary creation that is great for sharing served with butter rice and a generous serving of vegetable salad. Besides being grilled perfectly, the servings with basmati rice and baked vegetables came together beautifully! Both dishes are highly recommended!

Besides the restaurant itself, we absolutely love the location of Maxim Grill. This is because, after a hearty meal, you can stroll along the streets to take in the historical structures at Kampong Glam. Further down, you can also visit Haji Lane, the hip and trendy venue for youngsters and fashionistas. There, you’ll be able to take loads of instagrammable shots with the graffiti wall art sprawling throughout the area.
