Meng Meng Roasted Duck City Square Mall Johor Bahru Review
Meng Meng Roasted Duck is located in a discrete corner of City Square Mall Johor Bahru. Initially, we were referring to Google Maps and it showed that Meng Meng Roasted Duck is located outside of City Square Mall – THAT IS NOT TRUE (Please update accurately Google Maps)! If you look around in City Square Mall, you’ll see alot of advertisements, along the escalators, at the entrances of the mall…so yup, Meng Meng Roasted Duck is located INSIDE City Square Mall…
This was what we ordered for our dine-in at Meng Meng Roasted Duck
1. 1/2 Roast Irish Duck – 84RM
2. Mixed Roasted Plate – 18.80RM
(2 items of Roasted Honey Pork and Roasted Pork)
3. Honey Pork – 55RM
4. Homemade Dumpling Soup – 16.80RM
5. Lettuce with Garlic – 16.80RM
Rice was 3RM per bowl for a large bowl of chicken (or oily) rice.

What we had at Meng Meng Roasted Duck City Square Mall Johor Bahru
For the Roasted Irish Duck, we think it was good but for the price, it was a tad bit expensive. The price actually translates to $55SGD for a whole duck. Compared to $18SGD for a whole duck at Yan Chuan Roaster which is probably the most value-for-money roast duck in Singapore, the rendition at Meng Meng Roasted Duck actually pales in comparison. As for the roasted pork on the roasted combination plate, it checks all the boxes. It had a crackling, not only crispy, but crackling skin at the top. The meat was flavourful and taken together, it was rather delicious. The only drawback was that it was a little too salty. Goes well with rice though. A quick note on the dumpling soup. It had generous ingredients, well-marinated and had a special twist – which we think 扁鱼 aka sole fish.
Now, on to the star of the meal – the Roasted Honey Pork, also known as Char Siew in this part of the world. First, the price. At 55RM for 1/2 kg, it was definitely not cheap. However, the taste more than made up for it. The outer layer had an intriguing sweetness to it. Not the in-your-face sweet honey but an enticing and sophisticated sweetness that is made better with the slight charred BBQ taste. On the first bite, it has a slight sticky sensation (due to the honey) but not just that, the pork remains tender and the slight fattiness oozes as you chew repeatedly, leaving a rich smoky aroma in your mouth. Perfect!
