After checking out from Millennium Hotel and Resort Manuels Taupo, we continued our journey south towards Napier where we visited Mission Estate Winery. As we approached Mission Estate Winery, the scenery changed where more vineyards started to appear…
Inside Mission Estate Winery
The facade of the entrance of Mission Estate Winery has a colonial-style architecture. There’s a fountain right at the porch of the drive way which also acts as a round-about. Visitors can park on the sides as you approach the entrance of Mission Estate Winery.
Once inside, you’ll walk past the wine-tasting area where the wines available would be shown along with standing tables for wine-tasting.
There are also other areas inside the main building where we saw a private function being held. We also visited the toilet, finding it to be rather posh as well…

Photo Spots at Mission Estate Winery
Walking through the main entrance, you’ll pass by the verandah and another fountain on the other side of the building. You can also enjoy outdoor wine tasting sessions here or simply take a photo with the beautiful colonial architecture. Walking further to the end of the porch, you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the vineyards in the distance.

Before we left, we bought a bottle of Shiraz Reserve. During this visit, we learnt that Mission Estate Reserve Wines are award-winning wines that are barrel-crafted and expresses Mission’s personality and authenticity. Usually wines are classified as “reserve” when wineries have a batch of good tasting wines and would want to set them aside or “reserve” them. Hence, the name. Overtime, Reserve came to mean better quality or aged wines. This time, we left with the Mission Reserve Syrah at $29, which was really tasty or as the description says “displays blackberry, dark plum and toasted nut characters with subtle black pepper and violet complexity.”
For those who are looking to try more premium wines, there’s the
Mission Jewelstone
“Mission Jewelstone is an iconic selection produced only from small blocks in the best vineyard sites. These special hand selected wines are a tribute to our pioneering winemaking Missionaries and will continue to develop for up to 20 years.”
Mission Jewelstone wines are in the range of $40 to $50.
Mission Huchet
“Our Huchet wines are a homage to Brother Cyprian Huchet, Mission’s French-trained winemaker from 1871 to 1884, and our proud heritage. Crafted with devotion and only in the best years, Huchet wines are the pinnacle of Mission’s winemaking.”
Mission Huchet wines are in the range of $150.
