Each year during Thanksgiving, hotels will try their best to entice customers by introducing the most amazing Thanksgiving menu available. We’re talking about oysters, crab cakes, ribs, traditional desserts and the most coveted Thanksgiving Turkey!
This year, we visited Monterey Marriott’s Thanksgiving Lunch Buffet and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food, service and of course, the amazing view from Ferrante’s Bay View Dining Room that is only opened for dining on special occasions!
About Monterey Marriott Thanksgiving Buffet Lunch
Thanksgiving Buffet was held from 11am to 5pm. Prices were $44 for adults, $22 for children ages 5-12 (not inclusive of tax or gratuity). When we called for reservation, there was a certain seating timing (ours was 11am) and we were advised to stay for 1.5 hours. However, we were only given the check after 2 hours and we were also told to “take our time”. So in fact, you could possibly stay longer if you wish you. Just that our tummies were so full because of these…

Jumbo Homemade Crab Cakes
One of the highlights for us during the meal was the Jumbo Crab Cakes! As you can see from the pictures, they were indeed much bigger than the crab cakes (Cioppino’s) you’ll get out there. In fact, we enjoyed the crab cakes so much that we went back for seconds, thirds…
Thanksgiving Buffet Lunch Monterey Marriott – Turkey Carving Station
Of course, the main highlight of the buffet lunch (for Tom) was the carving station. Here, you’ll be able to savour the Dijon herb-rubbed prime ribs and the star of the show – the honey glazed turkey!

Before this meal, we’ve never understood the hype about having turkey for Thanksgiving. In Singapore, turkey always seem to be a dish that is seldom cooked, hard to prepare and has tough texture. But having tried the jumbo turkey leg in Disneyland, we’re more open to turkey. The other thing we’ve wondered about is – “why turkey breast?”. Could it be due to the fact that it’s boneless? Or is it because it really is tasty?
So we took the taste test and we finally understood the hype…
Turns out, the turkey was probably one of the tastiest dish in the buffet. The meat was tender and juicy. Yes, a juicy piece of breast meat! :O You could also taste the herbs infused into the meat. The cranberry and fig marmalade complemented the overall taste superbly. Guess for a Thanksgiving Buffet, the turkey must not disappoint!

The rest of the entrees consisted of…

To be honest, the rest of the entree was so so. The lamb was tough though there was no gamey taste. The chicken roulade and salmon were dry. Hence, we have for seconds and thirds of the amazing turkey and juicy prime rib!
Highlight of Thanksgiving Buffet Lunch Monterey Marriott – DESSERTS!
The highlight of the Thanksgiving lunch at Monterey Marriott was desserts!

The desserts comprised of traditional favourites such as bread pudding and pumpkin/pecan tartlets. They not only looked nice but were amazingly delicious as well. This was considering that we’ve already finished an overwhelmingly full meal. In fact, the baklava (not sure how it got into this thanksgiving menu) was so good that we had much more than we should ;P (not gonna disclose the number here, it was MUCH MORE than we should have had). Suffice to say, Kate had a meal of her own with the desserts…
All in all, we had an amazing Thanksgiving Buffet Lunch at the Monterey Marriott. Unforgettable meal with a view. We’ve leave you now with a short video inside the Ferrante’s Bay View Dining Room at Monterey Marriott…
