On day 12 of our travels in New Zealand, we have arrived back to the northern part of North Island at Devonport. This morning, we started the day early and woke up at 5am for our drive to Takapuna Beach. But as we were still a little early, the clouds had not yet subside for the day…

Not giving, we headed to our next stop at Snells Beach where the clouds had subsided and we had a beautiful morning enjoying the sunshine, picking seashells and even catching a full rainbow at Snells Beach!

Thank the Lord that the clouds cleared at Snells Beach and we were able to take beautiful photos, also with a help of a local who was going about his morning stroll by the beach…

Enroute we also passed by another beach town, Orewa. Pumped $50 of fuel and visited Macs as well. There, we visited Countdown Supermarket and strolled around a little. Felt like a retirees paradise. Before lunch, we stopped by Milford Centre. It is a large shopping mall anchored by Warehouse and Countdown. There are a couple of cafe and shopping venues here as well.

Next up, lunch at Burger Burger!

This was also the first time we parked at the street parking using a machine. Parking fees was $1/hr for first 2 hours. Subsequently, it would be $2/hr. During our visit to Burger Burger this time, we ordered the Double Beef and Cheese ($25) as well as the Fish Beer Battered ($20) accompanied by a Pilsner ($12)

The beef of the beef burger was tender and juicy with good beefy flavours that we love. Double patty was definitely worth it. Fish batter of the burger was good, even by itself. The tartare and vegetable came together well. The Pilsner complemented both burgers and tasted like a light pale ale.

New Zealand Travel Itinerary Day 12 – Movies at The Vic Devonport

After a satisfying meal at Burger Burger, we headed back to our Airbnb for a nap and warmed up the chicken skewers ($9 – honey soyed) with yellow capsicum ($1.65) with red wine

After another satisfying meal by Kate, we headed out to the town centre of Devonport and strolled by the waters. The weather this evening was nice with the sun shining through without the strong winds the day before…

This time, we also bought a popcorn for $7.9 – Butter and Salt flavour. Very American but was a little “lao hong” – loss its crispiness. Movie on the other hand was good. A Man Called Otto was about a widowed man played by Tom Hanks who became bitter because of the death of his wife. The unlikely new neighbours then came and became the spark that made him care. One of the moral of the movie is to help and care for others – Love God and Love People!
