On day 13 of our travels in New Zealand, we headed out to do some shopping at Dress Smart Outlet Shopping @ Onehunga. This time, we started our day at Mount Eden Devonport to take in some magnificent views of the area…
New Zealand Travel Itinerary Day 13 – Mount Eden Auckland
Views from Mount Eden (also known as Maungawhau) was beautiful on a clear morning. Some parts of the summit was cordoned off due to renovations of the boardwalk. This time, we were also able to see the crater of the Mount Eden Volcano – now covered in beautiful green grass. This time, we managed to get some free parking by the roadside before walking up Mount Eden. There are basically 2 routes up. By stairs is a little faster. By slope a little slower but more gradual inclinations, offering scenic views.
After taking in the beautiful views from Mount Eden, it was time for Kate’s favourite past time – SHOPPING! We headed next to Dress Smart Outlet Shopping at Onehunga, Auckland!
New Zealand Travel Itinerary Day 13 – Dress Smart Outlet Shopping Onehunga Auckland
We reached Dress Smart Outlet Shopping Centre Onehunga Auckland at about 1130. Hence, the first order of the day was to get Tom fed…
Katsubi @ Dress Smart Outlet Shopping Centre
While strolling along Dress Smart Outlet Shopping Centre, we saw that Katsubi was about to open. Hence, we hung around a little and were the first few customers this afternoon…
This time, we ordered the large bowl which allows you to choose from all the salads, have a mix of 2 sauces – this time we chose wasabi mayo and oriental garlic. Finally, you get 3 choices of meats. All for just $24 (a little expensive from Singapore Cai Png perspective but the portion was HUGE). This time, we chose, spicy chicken, teriyaki beef and sweet and sour chicken…
After a satisfying meal (that is good for 2 to share), we started our shopping at all the outlet shops here at Dress Smart Outlet Shopping Centre…
Surprisingly, there were quite alot of deals at Dress Smart Outlet Shopping Centre. This time, we bought a Kathmandu shirt that was discounted from $120 to $25! Nike Sports Bra reduced from $50 to $15!
After our visit to Dress Smart Outlet Shopping, we pumped our last fuel at Mobil for $90. In total, we pumped $300 for a 2000km drive around north island. Mileage of the Rav4 was about 16km/litre and average fuel price was about $2.5/litre. We were likely the second group to rent the car since the mileage had only reached 5000km. Hence, overall it was a very new car with fuel prices slightly cheaper than in SG due to the exchange rate of 1NZD to 0.8SGD.
New Zealand Travel Itinerary Day 13 – The Landing Restaurant & Bar Auckland
Enroute back, we visited The Landing Restaurant and Bar for a little stopover…
Inside, we found the pub to be cosy with comfortable seatings and beers on tap!
This time, we had Emerson Pilsner and Speights Gold Meal Ale on tap for $18.5…
This was a local place where guests can enjoy a pint and even visit the “secret” jackpot room inside. However, there isn’t sea views from The Landing Restaurant. Hence, after a drink, we left for a day out at Narrow Neck Beach Devonport Auckland…
New Zealand Travel Itinerary Day 13 – Narrow Neck Beach Devonport Auckland
Thank the Lord for the sunny weather at Narrow Neck Beach Auckland this afternoon! There were people sailing, swimming, doing boogie board and walking their dogs. This time, we laid out our picnic mat and had chips. As the sun came out, we went to the green lawn at the entrance of Narrow Neck Beach to bask under the sun as well.
New Zealand Travel Itinerary Day 13 – Dinner at The Patriot Devonport
For dinner, we headed to The Patriot in downtown Devonport – a restaurant that we had passed by a couple of times before in the last few days. This time, we finally headed over after seeing the deals this evening…
This evening, we had the burger and chips deal for $20. We also had the scotch fillet steak with garlic butter and mash potato/vegetable ($34) as well as a couple of beers – Panhead Super Charge ($11), Panhead Rat Rody Hazy IPA ($11.5) and a pint of Kilkenny – just for the Irish Pub’s sake. Had a wonderful time, enjoying a meal in the historic building of The Patriot which used to be the historic bank of New Zealand.
