On day 3 of our travels in Phu Quoc, we started the day with a stroll by the beach next to Vinpearl Phu Quoc Resort & Spa. The beach at Vinpearl Resort & Spa Phu Quoc is a private beach and you’ll be able to see some of the other rooms and bungalows located right next to the beach…
As we continued north along the beach, we passed by many villas – one of which caught our eye. Not only was it huge, probably the size of the in-house restaurant Seashell, but it also had private security guarding the beach area in front of the villa. Perhaps a celebrity is staying there this time?
For breakfast, it was pretty much similar to what we had the day before – just that they have set up additional stalls outdoors. You can find another banh mi, egg and pho station outdoors, probably to cater to the crowds on Saturdays. As usual, the ban cuon was rat ngon (very delicious) and we put extra shallots, coriander and fish sauce which elevated the taste even further.
After chilling in the room, we left our room at about 12pm – when a little “blackout” took place. At first, we thought it was a “sign” for guests checking out to leave the room because by the time we reached the lobby, it seemed that the elevators were working just fine. However, we reached the lobby, the black-out happened again the receptionist requested for some time before they could process our check-out request. Then, we knew that the blackout was probably for real. Still, power came back on in a really short time and we were given our bill of 3.2M VND – for our dinner at Pepper Restaurant as well as the massage at Akoya Spa. Tickets to Vinpearl Safari was paid separately.

Getting from Vinpearl Resort and Spa Phu Quoc to Duong Dong Town Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel & Spa
As we wanted to save on transport to our next hotel, we checked in with the concierge and found that we could take the usual Route 2 bus and alight at Grand World (T2 Parking) instead. We left the hotel at 1230 and at 1252, Bus 17 towards the airport arrived…
The ride took quite a while and we alighted close to Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel & Spa…
The walk from the bus stop was just less than 3 minutes to the hotel lobby.
About Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel & Spa
We arrived at Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel & Spa at about 1:30pm. As you can see from the photo above, Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel is shaped like a cruise ship, with the rooms with balconies facing outwards resembling the balcony-class cabins of a cruise ship.
The lobby was spacious but we wouldn’t describe it as grand unlike Vinpearl Resort & Spa. Nonetheless, it does have a certain charm and the lobby leads to the infinity pool that overlooks the ocean. It was beautiful. At 1:30pm, our room was ready and we also paid for our seafood buffet dinner at Coral Restaurant this evening.
It was time to check out our Premium Ocean View King Bed at Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel & Spa…
When we entered the room, the “oohs” and “aahs” started – typical when we are impressed by what the room offers. Firstly, the room was spacious. At 33sqm, we had a his/her vanity sink, a bath tub, rain shower, a king-sized bed, cable TV and of course the views that we booked the room for…
The view was simply breath-taking. It was unblocked for miles out and if you take a sit by the bed and stare at just the sea, you can feel as though you’re sailing while the smaller fishing boats pass by. Of course, in reality, its just the fishing boats passing but there’s an effect that has been created to make you feel as though you’re on a cruise ship. Kudos to the designers of Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel & Spa!
After checking out our room, we headed to the basement to book our massage as the room came with complimentary foot massages. At $135SGD per night, this deal was actually quite good. This time, we received 4 massage tickets. Each ticket entitles guests to a 30 minutes foot massage. However, as we were attending the seafood buffet dinner tonight, we decided to do the massages the next day. Then, we were given the options to combine the tickets. For 2 tickets, we could choose a 50 minutes foot massage or a 30 minutes head and shoulder massage. Since we didn’t have any other time slot the next day, we agreed to the 8:30pm time slot the next day for the foot massage (Kate) and the head and shoulder massage (Tom).
We also took the opportunity to check out the gym right next door. Nothing fancy but meets the minimum requirements of a gym.
Thereafter, we chilled at the pool for the next 3 hours till sunset at 6pm. As mentioned by many reviews online, the number of deck chairs are rather limited, especially during sunset hours from 4pm onwards. When we arrived at 3pm, we were only able to get a single deck chair for us to put our stuff. This, we didn’t mind since most of the time we were dipping in the pool. There were several things we like about the swimming pool at Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel & Spa
1. The material used to construct the pool were able to absorb the heat from the sun. This means that you will not be entering a “cold pool”. Temperatures of the pool was nice throughout the day.
2. The design of the swimming pool was great as well. Kate loved the colours of the tiles used. You’ll noticed that it isn’t run-off-the-mill type of swimming pool tile. Instead, each tile seems to be different.
3. There are a few areas of the swimming pool that we liked. Firstly, there’s two small fountains that flows overhead into the pool. You can use this feature to massage your shoulders or back. Both fountains have different pressures, so choose the one that suits you better. Then, there’s the “beach whale” area where the water is very shallow (around 10cm) and you can lie down in the water.
4. Lastly, of the 3 hotels that we stayed at, it was truly an “infinity” pool because from the swimming pool, there’s a drop in height to the beach, allowing that “visual” of the pool connecting to the sea. Probably the best swimming pool during our stay in Phu Quoc.

Soon, it was time to change out and enjoy the seafood buffet dinner at Coral Restaurant which starts at 6:30pm…
Seafood Buffet Dinner at Coral Restaurant Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel & Spa
The seafood buffet dinner at Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel & Spa’s Coral Restaurant is rather extensive. If you only look at page 1 of the menu above, you may be slightly disappointed with the options. But when you head to page 2, that’s where the “big ticket items” are shown. This time, we had tiger prawns, oysters, scallops, mussels, whole fish that were barbecued ala-minute.
There’s also an array of other cooked food options which were not too bad as well. These included beef, pork belly, noodles, salads, sushi and desserts…
One of the highlights of the dinner is also the Filipino Band (ARTURO) that performs during dinner. We must say that they were VERY good. Not only did they have a good repertoire of both new songs and old favourites, they were also open to dedications which some of the guests this evening enjoyed. Of course, they guitar and singing skills were rather impressive, harmonising and swooning us with songs after songs throughout the evening. Kudos to the band as well! 👏 👏 👏
The only gripe that we had was that coffee was not included in the buffet. You’ll only have some juices and water included. Hence, we ordered a black and white vietnamese coffee (45k VND – $2.5 SGD and 49k VND – $2.7 SGD respectively) to go along with our dessert. Not too expensive. Another thing we found strange was that raw food such as sushi were placed outdoors. It would have been better if some options such as sushi and desserts were placed indoors so that they can be kept at a cooler temperature. Nonetheless, the overall value-for-money, variety, taste and entertainment factor (Filipino Band – ARTURO) of the seafood buffet dinner at Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel was excellent!
