Relax Bar is a new restaurant at level 2 of Punggol Settlement. It has a great frontage with sea views of the Johor Straits. This time, we decided to give it a try since there were deals on its Erdinger Beer Tower at $39.9++!!!

Relax Bar Punggol Settlement: The Vibe
First and foremost, the vibe is indeed relaxed at Relax Bar. Even the servers are quite relaxed. When we arrived, there were actually several tables waiting to be served and since there was no one attending to us, we took the liberty to sit at one of the tables with unblocked sea views. About 5 minutes after we were seated, we were told that the entire row of seats were reserved, apparently for regulars. Hence, to snag one of these seats, you’d have to call ahead or visit often enough. With that, we moved to a seat at the next row 😭
Thankfully, throughout the evening, there were no one seated at the first row. Hence, our views were still unblocked – which begs the question of who really made the reservation? 🤔
Going along with the relaxed vibe, it took us another 5 minutes before we were given the menu. Even with the increasing number of people, we noticed that the servers were keeping to the relaxed vibe and walking at the usual pace. Which, in a sense, does add to the relaxed atmosphere. What’s your hurry right?
While we settled in and chose our food from the menu, we also took time to enjoy the sea views as well as the sunset this evening. For food and drinks, we went for the Erdinger Tower ($39.9++) and the Army Stew ($38.8++)…

While waiting for our food, we commenced on our usual game of Scrabble, accompanied by the views and gentle breeze this evening…
Before long, our Erdinger Beer Tower arrived and we immediately sculled our first glass to quench our thirst…
Ah…came the reply to that…
Soon our Army Stew arrived! 😲
At $38.8++, it was not the cheapest Army Stew that we’ve had but it was certainly quite worth it. As you can see, the portion is quite huge and it comes with seafood such as clams and prawns. The Korean noodles got tastier as it soaked in the broth. There were loads of other ingredients that usually comes in a Korean Army Stew such as mushrooms, sausage, spam, vegetables, toufu and meat. Yes, the broth is also refillable. The server will make his rounds to check if you’d like to add more broth (free) or noodles ($1.5 each) which is not too bad for a restaurant with sea view frontage.

Conclusion
To conclude, we think that Relax Bar is a great addition to the Punggol Settlement food scene. The atmosphere is relaxed and the servers observe that rule as well. You can really ease in, chillax and enjoy conversations with your buddy and companion. With the ongoing pandemic and restaurants going belly-up, it is refreshing to see a great venue popping up to provide us with more choices. Hope Relax Bar can continue to serve up great food and drinks at affordable prices in the coming years!
P.S. Apparently, the “seating ordeal” has affected several other patrons as well. See comments section for more details.
Very bad service. Called the bar and was told that no reservation is allowed. Rushed down and saw that there are empty tables reserved. Apparently, this place only allows certain customers to reserve table. For other customers, they will be told that no reservation is allowed and have to walk in to get the table.
The food is not fantastic. Will not be patronising this place again. Will also not recommend anyone who is looking for a nice place to have your meals.
Yeah, we faced the same ordeal too. It is quite frustrating, especially when the tables are empty 😑
Let us know if you have other recommendations at Punggol Settlement! Thanks for dropping by John!

Yes I encountered the same issue. Really bad. Rushed down but no seat available. Told me unable to make reservation but when I arrived, there were tables available. Why was there double standard? Friends of the boss can make reservation? 🤔
Really appreciate and thank you for sharing about your ordeal. It must also have been an extremely upsetting experience for those who had the same encounter. A really bad business model in my honest opinion. There are many other nice eateries at Punggol Settlement like Georges By The Bay, SouthWest@Punggol and House of Seafood. I look forward to trying the other restaurants there soon.
PS: I was informed by my friend that he was threatened and challenged by a hooligan for a meetup after leaving a negative but honest feedback for Relax Bar. This is so unacceptable in my opinion. Patrons should not be threatened for providing feedback. I believe that Punggol Settlement will not want any hooligan to run a restaurant there to tarnish their reputation.
