Having visited Johor Premium Outlets more than 10 years ago, we decided to head back again to JPO and this time, we got to visit Souper Tang, which had been renamed from Taang Shifu previously…
Souper Tang (aka 汤师父) Johor Premium Outlets Menu
After entering the restaurant, we were led to the side, near to the kitchen where there were some cushioned seats. There, we could see that Souper Tang’s decoration remained posh, similar to that at City Square JB. After being seated, we were given the menu and we took some time to browse through the many pages of mouth-watering pictures…🤤
We also took some time to browse through the 12 Chef’s Recommendations at Souper Tang…

2. Stir Fried Beech Mushroom and Crunchy Lotus root with Honey Brown Sauce (49.9RM Large)

Some of the soups looked pretty enticing as well, such as the

3. Black Truffle Chicken Soup (33.9 – 1pax)
What We Had at Souper Tang (aka 汤师父) Johor Premium Outlets
Eventually, we settled on the
1. Signature Stone Pot Rice Steamed over Pork-Based Broth (29.9RM Small)
2. Mountain Pepper Pork Tripe Soup (32.9RM 1 pax)
3. Sauteed Black Truffle Pork Belly Pot (62.9RM)
We actually loved the taste of all the food served this time. The Sauteed Black Truffle Pork Belly had the nice truffle taste infused into the gravy, along with the skin that had been lightly fried such that it soaked in the gravy as well. The Signature Stone Pot Rice Steamed over Pork-Based Broth was loads of mushrooms and ingredients over it and towards the end, it had bits of rice crisps that added a different texture as well. Our favourite this afternoon was definitely the Mountain Pepper Pork Tripe Soup, which had the strong powdery taste as well as the rich milky texture of the soup which we enjoyed. Salivating even while we’re writing this! 🤤
The only real gripe that we have was that the pork belly was either not boiled long enough or that a wrong cut was used. Because, it had that grainy texture on some of the pork slices, instead of the melt-in-your-mouth feeling that you’d typically get with pork belly dishes.

We hope you have enjoyed our quick coverage of Souper Tang at JPO (Johor Premium Outlets). It was a great rest stop this time, savouring excellent Chinese cuisine. Although the overall price is still a little expensive, even for Singaporeans, we think that you can still visit once in a while to get the herbal nourishment while doing shopping therapy – which Kate did this time, finally getting the Long Champ bag to replace one of our travel bags which had worn out 😅. Enjoy your next trip to JPO everyone!
