RISE Restaurant at MBS has always been one of the buffet restaurants that we’ve wanted to visit for some time now. Having tried the likes of Colony at Ritz Carlton, Clove at Swissotel the Stamford, Melt Cafe at Mandarin Oriental and the Edge at Pan Pacific Hotel, it was timely that we visit RISE @ MBS and discover the quality offerings that we’ve heard so many times before…

Wow! That’s ALOT of food offerings. In this post, we’ll also share what are some of our favourite offerings at RISE Restaurant MBS…
RISE Restaurant Buffet Lunch Spread at Marina Bay Sands

Again, we must elaborate and explain that THE BUFFET SPREAD AT RISE RESTAURANT IS REALLY EXTENSIVE! For the photographs below, it is probably one of the longest that we took to capture most (not all) of its offerings. The display is also really beautiful and appetising. Check out these offerings during RISE Restaurant Buffet Lunch…

The sashimi section is one of our favourites at RISE. The Norwegian Fresh Salmon tasted unique, unlike the other fresh salmon that we’ve tasted in the market. The taste is rich with a smooth texture and the oil from the salmon permeates on each bite. Really good. We also enjoyed the Aburi Salmon, nicely torched with a slight smokey aftertaste.

The Seafood Ice section was also really popular with the guests at RISE Restaurant. The most popular has got to be the Atlantic Snow Crab. So popular that there are dedicated scissors and empty bowls on the tables to cut the shell and throw the shells into. We didn’t try it this time but we did go for loads of Tiger Prawns as you will see at the end of the post…

For the mains, we really enjoyed the Mafaldine Pasta (ribbon shaped pasta) that is prepared in the Parmesan Wheel. So cheesy and so good, especially with the Mafaldine Pasta that is able to “capture” the Parmesan in the cavities between the ribbons, elevating the overall experience. We also surprise surprise, enjoyed the chicken rice and the Wagyu Beef Cheek rendang! As most people were going for the “highlights” of the buffet, we had the luxury of choosing the drumstick and the chef’s knife skills was so good, plating the drumstick so beautifully. It had a firm texture for the skin but so tender within. The rendang was also tender but only for some parts because we also found some other parts to be a little tough as well.
The pan fried pork buns were also SOOO GOOD! There is a station that prepares the 生煎包 (Sheng Jian Bao) on the spot. The result? An outer crust that is crisp but is able to lock in the juices within. Be very careful because the juice will explode out of the pork bun – reminding us of our first ever Pan Fried Dumpling at 小杨生煎 Shanghai. Yum!
Lastly, the Laksa…goes so well with the Tiger Prawns (see our rendition at the end of the post). Also, it comes with a fishball that’s so bouncy and chewy!

As we mentioned earlier, the dessert selection at RISE Restaurant Buffet Lunch IS A MEAL ON ITS OWN! We love it that the buffet lunch hours is from 12pm to 3:45pm. This means that after you finish your leisurely lunch at about 2pm? You can still have another hour or so to tuck into the many beautifully crafted and exceptionally tasty desserts!
What We Had at RISE Restaurant MBS Lunch Buffet

We started off with the salmon sashimi and aburi salmon which we found to be of excellent quality. Unlike what we usually have and better than the above-mentioned restaurants that we have dined at. Then, we moved on to the Tiger Prawns which were fresh and succulent! This time, we decided to peel the tiger prawns and “decorate” the rim the bowl of laksa…
TADA!

The decoration actually made our laksa that much more appetising!

As mentioned earlier, the plating by the chef for our chicken rice was so pretty. An aunty walked past and saw what was on our plate, smiled to herself and went right on to order the chicken thigh.
Of the 3 pieces of beef rendang that we took, only 1 was tender and infused with the rendang. The other 2 pieces were rather tough. Nonetheless, we’d still go with this combination when we return (note that we didnt write “if we return”).

生煎包
Towards the end of our meal, we were surprised to find that there was Pan Fried Pork Dumpling (生煎包) available! We also received good reviews. Hence, we went with 4! Towards the end of our meal! And it was so good! The outer crust was crusty and crisp while the thinner layer allows you to nibble and slurp out the juices. Thereafter, place some vinegar and ginger on the top and go for a bite – be extra careful because the juices can be scalding but oh so shiok!

We were mesmerised by the dessert selection at RISE Restaurant MBS. So many to choose from and yet so little calorie to distribute upon! If we have them all, our sugar levels and calorie intake would spike. Hence, after a careful selection, we ONLY went with 2 macaron (pandan and black currant), pistachio choux, peanut cheesecake, chempedak tart, japanese mochi, black sesame mouchi in the chocolate ball (front) as well as the matcha cheesecake. ALL OF WHICH WERE GOOD!
But if we were to choose, the peanut cheesecake really did surprise us. As you can see, the red “peanut” above, is where the cheese is hidden and you can taste the peanuty and cheesy goodness as you enjoy this delectable treat. Our other favourite was the matcha cheesecake. So rich for the cheesecake with the mild matcha taste. Excellent! You can also ask the staff to serve coffee (or latte) that goes really well with all the desserts.

Having tried so many hotel buffets, we must say that RISE Restaurant at MBS definitely ranks high up there. Although the lunch buffet does not have lobsters, the other ingredients have been elevated in quality and makes the overall dining experience so much more enjoyable. If you’re thinking of where to try for your next hotel buffet, we’d recommend trying out RISE Restaurant MBS.
