Rollie Olie is a modern restaurant that offers poke bowls, sushi rolls and rice bowls. It prides itself in sashimi-grade tuna from SuperFrozen fishing vessels where the tuna, once defrost has deep red colour that a freshly caught tuna displays. In this review of Rollie Olie, we’ll share whether we’ll be back again to try out the other offerings on their menu…
Interior Decoration of Rollie Olie
One of the first few things that attracted us to dine at Rollie Olie was definitely its interior decoration. Of course, the tiffany blue chairs first caught Kate’s attention and thereafter, we felt relaxed in the “beach” vibes from the wooden interiors. If you take a look at the tiles, the different shades of blue on the “fish scale” floorings was another unique part of the decor.
Rollie Olie Menu
We first surveyed the menu and initially wanted to go with the Poke and Roll sampler ($16) that comes with a Caterpillar roll, Aloha poke bowl, miso soup and green tea jelly. However, we were told that the Poke bowl would be smaller than a usual poke bowl in a sampler. Hence, we decided to go with separate orders – not a wise choice…
We also took a look at the desserts available and found that they were not really appetising. So for sweets, we decided to go with the Tiramisu Coffee milkshake ($7). For our meal, we went with the K Pop sushi roll ($13) and Wild about Wasabi poke bowl ($14.5).
What we had at Rollie Olie
K Pop sushi roll comprises of spicy crab meat, kimchi, avocado, cucumber, jicama, chives, flying fish roe and spicy mayo. The portion of the full size K Pop sushi roll was very decent. Definitely fills one up. In the taste department, there was a myriad of textures from the fish roe, avocado, cucumber and crab meat. With the spicy mayo, though slightly hot, the medley was surprisingly enticing. Enjoyed it.
Wild about Wasabi comprises of salmon & tuna, romaine and mix cabbages, avocado, cucumber, tamago, radish, salmon roe, shiso leaf, sesame seed and wasabi sauce. For a “full bowl”, the portion was rather small. Should have topped up the $3 to upsize the poke bowl. Nonetheless, in terms of taste, we enjoyed the sashimi-grade tuna and salmon, along with the condiments and rice beneath. The only gripe we have is that the wasabi was served separately. This was a stark difference from the poke bowls we had in Hawaii where the sauce would be mixed to the salmon/tuna before placing it on top of the poke bowl. It was just strange to have the wasabi on the side as though we were having sashimi/sushi. Definitely not how a poke bowl ought to be.
The Tiramisu Coffee milkshake was decent. Smooth liquefied tiramisu. Could have been a little thicker and a little less milky. But overall, still a decent dessert to top off the meal.

Having tried the poke bowl and sushi roll separately, we’d recommend going for the sampler set meal. In fact, on our next visit, that would be definitely the choice we’ll be going with. We’ll also be giving the poke bowls another chance. Hopefully during our next visit, the tuna/salmon would have the sauce and dressing mixed into it. Other than these grouses, we did enjoy our meal as well as the dining ambience. If you have any other tips for dining in at Rollie Olie, do let us know more in the comments section below!
