Ruby Beach Brewing Company was our first craft beer stop in Jacksonville. Apparently, Jacksonville Florida has a burgeoning craft beer movement which includes over 30 craft beer breweries listed in the city itself! Our original first stop this evening was actually Intuition Ale Works but there was a fire that occurred next door, forcing the police and fire department to barricade the place altogether. After a quick visit to the waterfront to see the sun set, we headed over to Ruby Beach Brewing Company instead…
About Ruby Beach Brewing Jacksonville Florida
We arrived at Ruby Beach Brewing Company just after 6pm and we were able to get some street parking just steps away (street parking was free after 6pm). Inside Ruby Beach Brewing Company, the vibe was casual and relaxed. We could sit wherever we wanted. Note that Ruby Beach Brewing Company does not have service and there is no food available on its menu as well. Hence, we sat close to the bar, analysed the day’s menu before deciding what drinks to have this evening.

They also have Happy Hours on the wines from Mondays to Fridays from 2 to 6pm – $5 by the glass. Bottomless Mimosas take place on Saturdays and Sundays till 3pm at a cool price of $15.
This evening, we ordered the Double Ditch Imperial IPA ($7), Ode to the Abyss Imperial Stout ($7) and the Flying Saucer American Lager ($5). There was a 7.5% Florida tax added to the bill.
All craft beers at Ruby Beach Brewing Company that we tasted this evening was superb. The only boo-boo we made was that we ordered the “stronger” craft beers first before returning to the Lager last. Also, we found the Flying Saucer American Lager to be especially robust and flavourful. No wonder it is listed as the first beer on the menu – expressing confidence in their take on the American Lager.
Ruby Beach Brewing Company is part of the Jax Ale Trail or the craft beer scene of Jacksonville. During our visit, we saw that the craft beer breweries that we went to had this beautiful brewery passport that allows revelers to get a stamp at each of the brewery that they visit. After collecting various levels of stamps, you will be able to exchange for gifts such as koozies, t-shirts and even a mystery prize for collecting all brewery stamps.
What to eat at Ruby Beach Brewing Jacksonville Florida
As mentioned, Ruby Beach Brewing Company doesn’t have food options on its menu. Thankfully, they do have a collab with the The Hungry Owl Thai Food Truck that is located at an alley just steps away. Of course, coming from Southeast Asia, we were not exactly keen to have Thai Food with our craft beers. Also, the prices were not exactly cheap as well. Converting back to SGD, we’d think that we can probably get something better at a cheaper price. But this evening, we were proven wrong…
We ordered the Pad Ka Proa (Spicy Basil). The description was spicy basil sauce, onion, long bean over rice, fried egg and a choice of protein which we chose the grilled chicken for a price of $15. After trying out the Pad Ka Proa, we were pleasantly surprised! The grilled chicken was well-marinated and flavourful while the rice was so fragrant – not a usual comment that we’d make for rice found in the USA. This also meant that the Hungry Owl Thai Food Truck chose the fragrant but more expensive Thai Rice for their menu. Great for patrons. Lastly, the portion was also quite decent – good for 2 to share. The only thing was that it’s rather spicy, even for Singapore standards. So have your lager ready to wash down in a familiar – “ah…”.

Ruby Beach Brewing Company was our first craft beer brewery in Jacksonville and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The craft beers were excellent and prices were not too expensive despite its location in downtown Jacksonville. The partnership with The Hungry Owl Thai Food Truck next door was excellent. You can bring the Thai Food over and dine in Ruby Beach Brewing Co. while pairing with some excellent lagers – which goes really well with Southeast Asian cuisine! Enjoy your experience at Ruby Beach Brewing Company!
