After checking out of our Airbnb at Pham Hong Thai in Hanoi, we still had some time to spare before the check-in timing at the next Airbnb. To while the time a little, we decided to dine at Sawasdee Quan Ngon Thai Restaurant – a Vietnamese Thai food joint in Hanoi…
Inside Sawasdee Quan Ngon Thai Restaurant
When we arrived at Sawasdee Quan Ngon Thai Restaurant, they had just opened and we were the first customers of the day. Inside, the seats were clean and there were even seats that faced that Ho Quang Ba Lake with views such as these…
Soon, the menu was brought over by the staff…
Sawasdee Quan Ngon Thai Restaurant Hanoi Menu
The menu at Quan Ngon Thai Sawasdee Restaurant was very extensive. You’ll be able to get the standard Thai food fare such as Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice and Thai Curry. You can also get dishes such as the spicy ribs, grilled fish, squid and herb chicken.
As for drinks, they have a good variety of specialty drinks such as teas, juices and lassi.
What We Had at Sawasdee Quan Ngon Thai Restaurant Hanoi
This time, we chose to have the following dishes at Sawasdee Quan Ngon Thai Restaurant Hanoi:
– Beef Fried Rice (85k VND – $4.80)
– Curry Spaghetti (95k VND – $5.40)
– Fried Tofu (59k VND – $3.30)
– Special Lime Juice (39k VND – $2.20)
– Asahi (40k VND – $2.30)
First up, the Beef Fried Rice. The portion of the beef fried rice at Sawasdee Quan Ngon Thai was very generous. You could probably feed three people if you’re not too hungry. Taste wise, it was decent and it was served with shallots for that extra fragrance and crunch.
Our favourite during our visit to Sawasdee Quan Ngon Thai Restaurant was probably the Curry Spaghetti. As the name suggests, it is a cross between the western spaghetti and the Thai curry. Who would have thought that this combination was so delicious? The curry was in the style of the red thai curry, which was rich and complemented the al dente spaghetti very well. There were also generous amounts of chicken within. This is definitely a “must-order” if you’re at Sawasdee Quan Ngon Thai Restaurant in Hanoi!
The Fried Tofu was also nicely fried and crisp. We love it that it has been cut into smaller cubes of bite-sized pieces. Perfect with the Thai Chili Sauce.
To round up the meal, we decided to go with the Special Lime Juice. Nothing particularly good to shout about. Still, a refreshing drink to cleanse the palette after a satisfying Vietnamese Thai Food meal at Sawasdee Quan Ngon Thai Restaurant!
