Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa was our choice of stay while visiting Devil’s Postpile National Monument. The drive from Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa to Devil’s Postpile was approximately 45 minutes and the location in Mammoth Lake had the Sierra Nevada range as the backdrop.
During our research on TripAdvisor, we found out that the hotel has its own hot tub as well as mini golf arena!

The check-in experience at Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa was surprisingly wonderful. As we arrived earlier than the check-in timing, our room was not ready as yet. Hence, the receptionist gave us a choice of whether to take the room that was available or wait for the deluxe room that we had booked for. After some clarification, we found out that there was no difference in price but the deluxe room was slightly bigger though the bathroom was slightly smaller (without bath tub). So, Tom left the lobby and went to the car to consult with Kate and before deciding to get the room that was available.
When Tom got back to the lobby, there was someone else in front of him in the line. However, since Tom already had a prior conversation with the receptionist, he kindly asked the other guest to let Tom go ahead first and got us the room that was available. Efficient service there!

There was a spa within the hotel (hence the name) as well as a swimming pool. Although it was too cold for us to swim in the pool, even during the day, we were able to soak in the hot tub in the evening under the stars! That was quite an experience! Also, we fully utilized the mini golf course as we brought along our own putter. Kate actually beat Tom to a nail biting finish at the last hole! Remember, if you’re using your own golf ball, remember NOT to putt the last hole as the ball will be locked up in a chest.

The room was quite well-equipped with bath towels, shower products, coffee machine and even a fridge. The only thing that we thought was missing was a microwave. Otherwise, the beds were comfortable and there was cable on TV as well.
In and around Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa
The town itself is self-sufficient and you’ll be able to do grocery shopping at Vons, have a cuppa at Starbucks or even catch a movie at Minaret Cinemas. Right next to Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa, there’s a Second Chance Thrift Store if you’re into bargain hunting. For our dinner, we bought thick burgers from Carl’s Junior to go along with beers from Black Doubt Brewing Company. Although they don’t sell food at Black Doubt, they allow patrons to bring in their own food, which was a plus. The beers were surprisingly good for a local brewery as well! Must visit if you’re in town!
