Have you done a staycation at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel? We’ve recently completed a post-COVID Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel staycation and totally enjoyed our stay. If you’re planning a staycation here, find out what has changed for Singapore Staycations in the post-COVID era!
Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel Staycation Deluxe Room Review
As with many venues in Singapore, you’ll be required to use Safe Entry and take your temperature before you’ll be able to enter the lobby of Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel. Once inside, you’ll notice the tall ceiling of the lobby with the sun peering through its glass ceilings…
The check-in process was relatively smooth. If you’re able to download the Marriott Bonvoy App (which we somehow were not able to), you’d be able to enjoy a contactless check-in process as well. As we were enjoying the staycation deal via Citi Prestige, we also had a $100 dining voucher that could be redeemed at any of the hotel’s restaurants. Hence, during our check-in, we found out that we just had to sign the payments to our room and the $100 will be offset when we checked-out. Also, as part of the safe management measures, we booked the 2-hours swimming slot for the next 2 days. Gym slots also had to be booked as well.
Soon, it was time to check out our Deluxe Room at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel…
There were several things that we enjoyed about our room. Firstly, it was quite spacious and we loved the king-sized bed where we sprawled and channel surfed extensively 😅
The bathroom had a nice rain shower facility, complete with Thann bathroom amenities that we really enjoyed. The soap/scrub combination is just so smart! Reminded us of our stay at De Sarann Hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We were also reassured of the high standards of cleanliness that the hotel has put in…
Of course, our favourite part of the room has got to be the view…
From our room, we were able to see the junction of Wheelock Place, Lido and Ion Orchard. At the same time, we were able to monitor the queue of Shake Shack to see if the queues were short enough for us to head over 😋
Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel Facilities
During our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the swimming pool of Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel…
Swimming Pool Marriott Tangs Plaza Hotel
As we’ve mentioned before, you’d need to book your slot prior to entry to the swimming pool at level 5. Thankfully, the slots are allocated at 2-hourly slots, which gives you ample time to laze and chill at the open air swimming pool. Right next to the pool, the restaurant has been converted to become the temporary executive lounge. It’s also here where you’d need to register, take your temperature and retrieve your pool towels before you enter the pool’s premise. The swimming pool at Marriott Tangs felt like a little oasis in the midst of the urban jungle. Although we were right next to Orchard Road, we could hardly hear sounds from the roads. There were little jacuzzi jets that massaged our muscles while our favourite napping area was the cabana. The cabanas are free (complimentary) and is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Gym at Singapore Marriott Tangs Plaza
As with the swimming pool, you’d also need to register the 2-hours slot for gym visits. As for gym visits, you will have to head to the lobby to have your temperature taken, before you can retrieve the gym card for entry to the gym at level 4. A little hassle but these are unusual times. Within the gym, you’d be able to find treadmills (with cable channels!), free weights, gym towels, water and even a half-sized basketball court! Playing basketball in the urban jungle of Orchard Road felt different. A little atas even 😬
Dining Options at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel
There are also many dining options available at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza…
Previously, we had tried out the Durian High Tea Buffet at Marriott Cafe so this time, we tried out the cuisine at Cross Road…
Dining options at Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel includes Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant, Java+, Marriott Cafe, Lobby Lounge and Cross Road. Cross Road was where we utilised the $100 F&B credit – twice. The food at Cross Road was a little expensive but we found the drinks rather affordable during happy hours. Beers, sangria and wines went for $10++ during happy hours. Here, you’ll also be able to people watch as they pass by this “cross road” between Orchard Road and Far East Plaza. The staff are also quite strict about safe distancing and requested us to sit further apart when we were too close to each other. Good job to the team.
Breakfast at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel Staycation
Breakfast is served daily at Marriott Cafe, located at the lobby of Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel. As it is the post-COVID era, you won’t be able to enjoy self-service buffet. Instead, you’ll be able to enjoy ala carte buffet from this breakfast buffet menu at Marriott Cafe (Marriot Tang Plaza Hotel)…
You’ll be able to order as many times as you wish from the menu. There is a variety of choice that includes asian, cereals, eggs, dim sum and a host of sides (grilled tomatoes, bacon, sausages and more). During our 2 breakfasts, we tried out these dishes…
There are several things that we loved about the breakfast at Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel. First off, there’s eggs benedict! We must say that the quality is actually quite good and the yolk oozes out at it ought to. The hash brown was surprisingly crisp and well done. Remember to ask for 2 at a go, otherwise, only 1 egg benedict is served by default. Next, we enjoyed the beverage selection that includes various fresh juices (orange, apple, guava, cranberry) as well as gourmet coffee (flat white, cappuccino, latte). Lastly, the service was prompt! This meant that when we wanted to go for our next order, there was also a staff available to do so. Food was also served promptly. Always enjoyed the leisurely start to each day at the ala carte breakfast buffet here.
Conclusion
During our visit, we also got to visit the Botanical Gardens, caught a late night movie (since Lido is just next door) and of course did some “light shopping”…
We love it that we were able to get around town, stay out a little later than usual and just trot back to our hotel room to rest for the evening. The excellent location of Singapore Marriott Tangs Plaza Hotel offers just that – entertainment right in the heart of Singapore’s premier shopping belt!
