After our recent Orchard Hotel Staycation, we decided to check out Soup Restaurant (三盅两件) at Vivocity. Originally, we had wanted to visit Seoul Garden but realised that the Seoul Garden Outlet at Vivocity is not a buffet branch. Thankfully, Soup Restaurant (三盅两件) at Vivocity turned out to be a good choice as well…
About Soup Restaurant (三盅两件)
Soup Restaurant (三盅两件) has an interesting setting within that reminded us of tea houses of old, especially those in the pugilistic world…
The Soup Restaurant (三盅两件) in Singapore are known for 2 things. Firstly, its samsui ginger chicken are famous because of ginger sauce as well as the tasty chicken that’s tender and juicy. Secondly, the ambience. It recreates an environment of dining in a tea house of old, complete with timber beams and decorations of a traditional courtyard. In addition, the Soup Restaurant (三盅两件) at Vivocity has another plus point, views out to Sentosa…
Soup Restaurant (三盅两件) Set Lunch Review
When we peered in from the outside, the rustic decorations was actually the factor that attracted us to Soup Restaurant (三盅两件) at Vivocity. As we moved closer, we found that they had a set lunch menu starting at $12.90++
However, after we entered the restaurant, the promotion menu was not available. We had to ask the waiter about it and they referred us to the pages that the set lunch were applied to. For $12.90++, you’d get a soup, a mains, a dessert as well as tea. This time, we went for the salted egg chicken with fried rice (additional $1) as well as the claypot chicken and sausage…
For soups, you could choose from the double boiled chicken soups or the soup of the day (which was ABC pork rib) on the day that we visited…
The salted egg chicken actually had quite a small portion. You could literally count the number of chicken pieces that were given. However, what they lacked in quantity, Soup Restaurant (三盅两件) more than made up in quality. The chicken was perfectly fried with a nice crisp batter on the outside and juicy with well-marinated chicken on the inside. All these were covered with a beautiful golden coating of the salted egg sauce. The rich, tasty and flavourful that gently coated the chicken. Kudos to the chef for this well-crafted dish!
The claypot chicken and sausage was a good choice as well. Chicken was tender and you could see the distinct grains of the rice. Sausage was well-balanced. Not too sweet and not too salty. The dark soy sauce was provided for you to blend in as much (or as little) as you want according to your preference.
The soups on the other hand were ok. We wanted to say that the chicken was tender but it was not. The choice of breast meat was probably used to infuse the soup itself. Healthy-tasting soup with goji berries and ginseng distinctly felt. On hindsight though, we should have probably went with the ABC pork rib. Nonetheless, for $12.90++ for mains, soup, dessert and tea? Definitely a steal…
The dessert was Aloe Jelly with Citrus. The ice that came with it (to cool the dish), melted into a clump. So it was quite difficult to have crushed ice with aloe jelly. We eventually removed the ice and went for the jelly itself – which was slightly tangy with a nice bounce to it on the bite. A welcomed treat on a warm and balmy afternoon.

Conclusion
All in all, we found the Soup Restaurant (三盅两件) Set Lunch menu well worth it. The mains were delicious and the CP value is high with the inclusion of the double boiled soup, tea and dessert. Service was prompt and we had frequent refills of tea, allowing us to simply while the afternoon away with views of Sentosa in the distance.
P.S. There was an earlier confusion with Dian Xiao Er’s offerings. Thanks to Samantha for pointing this out! 🙂
