On day 4 of our South Korea Travel Itinerary, we sussed out all the natural wonders and attractions in Jeju. This time, we visited Cheonjeyeon Waterfall, Cheonjiyeon Waterfall (they’re different waterfalls!), Oedolgae Rock, Jeongbang falls, Jeosangjeolli Cliff, Jeju Folk Village, Seopjikoji (to see Seongsan ilchulbung) and of course, the most famous attraction in Jeju and South Korea – Seongsan Ilchulbung!

Jeju Attractions that we visited on this day…
Jeju Travel Itinerary – Cheonjeyeon Waterfall
We started the morning with a sumptuous breakfast at Jeju Shinhwa World Landing Hotel…
Having fueled ourselves up, we were raring to go visit our first attraction of the day at Cheonjeyeon Falls!
Cheonjeyeon Falls (천제연 폭포), also known as 天帝洲瀑布 is a 3-tier waterfall in Jeju. Of the 3, the first one only shows itself when heavy rain occurs. There’s also a beautiful, 128m iron arch bridge connecting the 2nd and 3rd waterfall that’s insta-worthy as well…
Next to Seonimgyo Bridge, there’s also a pavilion that commands a beautiful view of the valley as well as a glimpse of the waterfalls. As it was a relatively dry period, the 1st tier waterfall was dry. However, we did manage to visit the most scenic 2nd tier fall at Cheonjeyeon…
Cheonjeyeon Falls is actually located next to Yeomiji Botanical Gardens where parking is free. Entrance fees to Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls costs 2,500krw. As we had a limited time this day, we decided to skip the hike to see the 3rd tier of Cheonjeyeon Falls. However, if you visit Jeju Island, do set aside sufficient time to see all the natural attractions that the island offers. Check out our post on driving in South Korea as we share all the experiences of driving, parking and clearing toll gates in South Korea! Next stop, Jeosangjeolli Cliff!

Jeju Travel Itinerary – Jusangjeolli Cliff
Jeosangjeolli Cliff (주상절리(대포동지삿개) aka Jusangjeolli Cliff is an area with unique stone pillars created by lava from Hallasan that flowed into the Jungmun sea. Due to the cooling and erosion process, hexagonal shaped pillars were formed. These are pretty similar to the Devil’s Postpile in Mammoth Lakes, California.
The boardwalk at Jeosangjeolli cliff takes you around to all the scenic photo spots here. In fact, there’s even a jet ride that goes up close to all these features. Remember to wave and say hi to the passengers when they pass by! 🙂 Staring out at sea and marvelling at the works of God was also a reminder that He is the Creator of these beautiful features and we were thankful for the opportunity to enjoy them.
Entry to Jeosangjeolli Cliff costs 2000krw per person while parking costs 1000krw. Along the way to our next attraction, Oedolgae Rock, we stopped by to get a couple of milkshakes from Cafe Bene!
Jeju Travel Itinerary – Oedolgae Rock
Oedolgae Rock (외돌개(제주) is a singular 20 metres rock close to the shores of Sammaebong. Also known as Janggunseok Rock, it was featured in the famous korean drama, Daejangguem…
As it was a foggy day, we were not able to capture a clearer shot. Nonetheless, also due to the weather, we were able to get unblocked shots and spend some time doing jump shots – repeatedly! 😛
There is no entrance fees to Oedolgae Rock and you can get free parking from across the road.
Jeju Travel Itinerary – Cheonjiyeon Waterfalls
Cheonjiyeon Waterfalls (천지연폭포) also known as 天地周瀑布, was our next stop. By now, we were already experiencing what is now known as a medical condition called “waterfall fatigue”. Moreover, it was already starting to drizzle -_-”
Cheonjiyeon Falls is 22 metres high and 12 metres wide, with a depth of 20 metres for its basin. Surrounded by lush greenery, Cheonjiyeon Falls makes for a scenic shot…
Entrance fee for Cheonjiyeon Falls is 2000krw while parking is free.
South Korea Travel Itinerary – Jeju Jeongbang Falls
Enduring “waterfall fatigue”, we continued with our next waterfall at Jeongbang Falls so as to bring these scenic attractions in Jeju to our readers like you! The unique thing about Jeongbang falls is that it is the only waterfall in Asia that falls direct into the ocean…
Entry to Jeongbang Falls is 2000krw per person and parking is free. After purchasing our tickets, we were able to see the waterfalls in the distance. The walk down can be slippery and steep at times, so be careful and hold on to the railings where necessary.
Next to Jeongbang falls by the shore, there’s a tentage where Ajummas were selling fresh seafood. At a distance, we were able to see fresh abalone being enjoyed by patrons. As we approached Jeongbang falls, we noticed that the rocks prevented us from getting a clear shot with the falls itself. Moreover, there were already many tourists crowding the area. Nonetheless, we managed to find a route on the right hand side which was relatively safer and offered a great view as well…
By now, it was already close to 2 pm and we had to make the call whether to visit Jeju Folk Village (which closes at 5pm). After reaching there (since it was enroute to Seongsan Ilchulbong), we decided to have lunch but skip the attraction altogether…

South Korea Travel Itinerary – Jeju Folk Village
At 15,000krw, the seafood soup had not only 1 but 2 abalone! Moreover, there were prawns, clams, mussels and even a small crab! As they say, when in Jeju, try out the seafood soup and/or seafood noodles soup. You confirm won’t go wrong with these options!
There are actually 2 Folk Villages in Jeju, They are Seongeup Folk Village (성읍민속마을) and Jeju Folk Village (제주민속촌). However, our research showed that if you have time to visit only one of them, make it Jeju Folk Village. Not only is the premise more meticulously planned and maintained, there’s also a mini theme park area modelled after the popular korean drama – Daejangguem. There’s also over a 100 traditional buildings preserved – actual buildings where villagers once resided. Definitely worth a visit. As time was short for us and we still had the biggest attraction in Jeju – Seongsan Ilchulbong that we have not visited, we decided to head straight to Mt Seopjikoji.
Jeju Travel Itinerary – Mount Seopjikoji
The reason why we decided to stop by Mount Seopjikoji was because of the views that it offers over Seongsan Ilchulbong. On a clear day, you’ll be able see the iconic Jeju crater in all its splendour. Unfortunately, for us, it remained foggy for the rest of the day. If you were able to see Seongsan ilchulbong from Seopjikoji, do share it with us in our comments section below!
Seopjikoji, because of its altitude, was one of the places where fire beacons were placed and used to send signals. Most of these signals were sent to inform of impending wars or incidents that occurred. During our visit, we could still see a fire beacon from the ancient times that is relatively well preserved.
While we did not see Seongsan Ilchulbong from the edge of Seopjikoji, we did venture into the free Zippo Museum located there. There were some interesting Zippo exhibits as well as Lego exhibits during our visit there. At least the 1 hour walk was not completely unfruitful 🙂 Along the way, we also saw the iconic house at Seopjikoji that was featured in films such as “Gingko Bed,” “The Uprising,” “One Thousand and One Nights”. There’s even a horse grazing on the pastures nearby. Entry to Seopjikoji was free but parking costs 2,000krw.
Jeju Travel Itinerary – Seongsan Ilchulbong
For our last stop of the day, we headed to Seongsan Ilchulbong (성산일출봉), also known as 城山日出峰. As its name suggests, Seongsan Ilchulbong is the best location Jeju island to see sunrise! However, due to the direction of travel this day, we were not able to see sunrise from Seongsan Ilchulbong. Nonetheless, we got to enjoy our first Paris Baguette in South Korea, right in front of the iconic crater itself!
As mentioned earlier, Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak (성산일출봉) is a perfect location for sunrise due to its elevation at 90metres high. The crater itself has a diameter of 600metres. Covered with lush greenery, the location is perfect for walks and even horse riding activities. During spring, the blossoming of bright yellow canola flowers are also a sight not to be missed.
Entrance to Seongsan Ilchulbong costs 2,000krw per person and parking is free. There are shopping and gaming facilities next to the entrance of the park but what interests us most was Paris Baguette. With its location directly facing Seongsan Ilchulbong, we can imagine that this second floor seating would be packed full during summer. This time, we had a sweet potato latte (4,500krw), cheese tart (1,800krw), potato cheese stick (2,300krw) as well as a red bean dough (1,400krw). Did you notice the super cute Parisian cup from Paris Baguette??? 😛

Thereafter, we drove 1.5 hours back from Seongsan Ilchulbong to Jeju Shinhwa World. To end off the evening, we swam in the indoor heated pool and outdoor hot pools, probably the best part of the hotel stay for us. We also snacked at Wadda Street Food (10,000krw) which included fried items, glutinous rice and the signature korean rice cake (tteokbokki).
We hope you have enjoyed this travel itinerary covering Jeju island’s natural wonders. To enjoy Seongsan Ilchulbong at sunrise, simply do a reverse of this travel itinerary. Hopefully, you’ll be able to enjoy more scenic views that Jeju Island has to offer! We’ll now leave you with this video coverage of the top things to do and attractions in Jeju Island!
